Joe Gibbs Racing has been aggressive with the changes within the team for the 2025 season. With none of its drivers making it to the championship 4, major changes were made to crew chief roles. Denny Hamlin and Ty Gibbs both have new crew chiefs, whereas Chase Briscoe replaces the outgoing Martin Truex Jr. in the No. 19 car. Well, these changes weren’t just restricted to on-track performance, as the team has found additional support with the addition of CampbellSoupCo.
This deal was made possible because Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment already has an ownership stake in JGR. Now, we all know that Denny Hamlin and the #11 team are in dire need of a primary sponsor. Given the wide range of brands under CampbellSoupCo, umbrella, they can easily find a way to fill the void left by FedEx. However, if we are to go by the rumor mills, it looks like Chase Briscoe and the #19 team could be the ones benefiting from this new partnership.

Joe Gibbs Racing knew that they had to look out for partners with Martin Truex Jr.’s departure and FedEx taking the exit door. Earlier in the year, there were rumors that Kroger from JTG Daugherty Racing would be joining the JGR camp. But Brad Keselowski and RFK Racing bagged this deal and added their third car with Ryan Preece.
The idea behind getting big partners such as Kroger on board was to secure the base for the #19 team in case Bass Pro Shops decided to leave the team. Luckily, nothing of the sort happened as they have pledged continued support to be the anchor partner for the team in 2025 with Chase Briscoe. This new HBSE deal could open the door to more sponsorship deals for the driver. And there’s a reason why out of all the JGR drivers, he is the one linked to HSBE.
Now, these rumors and speculations stem from the fact that Chase Briscoe is the only driver that follows the $12.41 billion company on Instagram. There could be a possibility that JGR worked out a deal that could see one of the many brands under HSBE being featured on the #19 Toyota Camry in 2025. A total of 16 brands work within the HSBE group. However, it is hard to tell if any of those would be roped in as primary partners.

It has to be noted that Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment owns the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Devils, and Delaware Blue Coats. This deal with JGR is perhaps their foray into NASCAR, and who knows, it can turn into a primary sponsorship on one or all of its race teams. But, if these rumors come true, JGR and Denny Hamlin will need to get back to work in finding new partners.
Who will replace FedEx as the primary sponsor for the #11 JGR car?

FedEx had been Denny Hamlin’s primary sponsor since 2005. However, in 2021, they started to cut back on their support with a limited race schedule. By 2024, they only featured on the #11 Camry for 14-point races and eventually made their exit from NASCAR. This has become a recurring theme with big sponsors quitting the sport; M&M’s, Hooters, and GEICO are a few other examples of those who have cut ties with NASCAR.
Unlike the good old days, the teams now rely on multiple partners to cover the cost of racing for the entire year. While 14 races look like a small number, the sponsorship market is competitive even for a top-tier team like Joe Gibbs Racing. Fortunately, Hamlin might be able to take advantage of the situation that’s brewing up at RFK Racing. With Kroger’s inclusion as the primary partner, King’s Hawaiian is looking to make a switch with potential conflicts with Kroger brands.
A report by Sports Business Journal stated that “Kings Hawaiian has held talks with other NASCAR teams about possibly joining them in 2025. The identities of those teams could not be confirmed by the press. But some top teams have clear open inventory, such as Joe Gibbs Racing.” Well, if JGR can manage to seal a deal with Kings Hawaiian, they would get even with RFK Racing after losing out on the Kroger partnership.
