Home/NASCAR

As we head into the 2024 season, most teams and drivers have revealed their new colors. And while most have hit their mark with the community, some controversial liveries are worth checking out. From Ross Chastain’s Moose Livery riling up the Twitter community to William Byron’s Axalta and Raptor Liveries sparking a “cheating” debate, there’s been much more of a silly season with the colors we’ll be seeing on track than the drivers themselves!

Let’s take a look at some of the biggest changes in the Cup Series for the new season and also gauge whether the liveries have sat well with the NASCAR community or if they’ve been the subject of new jokes arising in the off-season.

Ross Chastain

Kicking off with the Melon Man himself, no major changes were noted on his 2024 Moose Fraternity car, which will run a similar red and black paint scheme as the previous seasons. However, what made the NASCAR community go bonkers was a revelation by Vince Brent, who seemed to have a sneak peek at Chastain’s Busch Light paint scheme that was eye candy.

But that wasn’t all the exciting news to come from the Trackhouse and Chastain camp. The underdogs revealed a beautiful white and blue paint scheme for the Busch Beer #1. The classic Busch Light Blue was an instant hit with fans, quickly amassing thousands of likes on X.

Keeping things interesting, Josh Berry’s partnership with Sunny D for multiple races, including the Clash at the Coliseum as well as the Daytona 500, gave fans a beautiful orange, yellow, and blue livery that seemed as refreshing as the brand’s offerings themselves. Moving from JTG Daugherty, Sunny D is hopeful their stint with Berry will result in a newfound relationship that lasts for years to come.

Kyle Larson

Amongst the most interesting prospects for 2024 is Kyle Larson, and the same carries over to the paint schemes that the Hendrick Motorsports driver is set to run for the coming season.

As Larson attempts The Double, he will be rocking classic McLaren orange and HMS blue on both his Arrow Mclaren Challenger for the Indianapolis 500 as well as the Coca-Cola 600 Cup car. Another interesting scheme for Larson is the Valvoline collaboration.

Noah Gragson

Tony Stewart’s bet on budding rookie Noah Gragson found itself a solid partner when Rush Truck Center decided to enter a partnership with the #10 driver to run a sleek grey livery on the Mustang Darkhorse for the Busch Light Clash at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum.

Kyle Busch

When it was announced that Luxco, a major liquor producer that owns brands such as Everclear, would partner up with Kyle Busch and Richard Childress Racing as their official bourbon for the coming two seasons, fans were ecstatic to see the livery. And when the paint scheme was finally revealed, it’s safe to say it didn’t disappoint!

Amongst other major paint schemes for Busch will also be the Global Industries Liberty on the #8 Camaro, which features a beautiful red and blue American design. The brand will also appear on the #21 Richard Childress Racing Challenger driven by Austin Hill in the Xfinity Series.

Chase Elliott

NAPA’s return to Chase Elliott’s #9 Camaro for 2024 received mixed reactions from the community, with most seemingly disapproving of the blue and yellow paint scheme. A change over the older blue and white. The fans instantly missed the old livery over the new, predominantly blue one.

Kelly Blue Book is also set to sponsor Elliott in 2024 with a rather striking baby blue livery that will be run by the HMS driver at Phoenix on the 10th of March and Talladega on October 6th. But fear not! Fans who despise the blue liveries were treated to a delightful return of a red paint scheme after Llumar revealed their challenger for Elliott.

Keeping the NAPA colors in line for the Clash at the Coliseum, Elliott will run a beautiful white livery that features the NAPA logo on its hood and the blue #9 on the sides. Between the blue and yellow paint scheme and the white and blue scheme, which one is your favourite?

RFK Racing

Buescher’s 2024 paint scheme with Fastenal was an instant hit with the community after being revealed to have gone some black treatment for the bumpers and chrome on the numbers of the new Darkhorse Mustang, which even impressed RFK co-owner, Brad Keselowski.

But that wasn’t the only eye-catching paint scheme revealed by RFK Racing. The team took to X yesterday to share the new Build Submarines paint scheme that will be used for a total of 18 races this season by both Buescher and Keselowski.

However, RFK Racing truly outdid themselves with the Castrol livery for 2024. Featuring a two-tone black and white base with the eye-catching red and green from the Castrol logo running down the sides, the Tweet perfectly summed up what everyone felt: “A design so nice, we have to run it twice.”

But wait a minute, that’s not all! RFK also revealed a sweet livery for their partnership with Esperion. The livery features bright cyan and magenta highlights on a white base from Mustang Darkhorse. Keselowski and Buescher both will run the livery for a number of races to promote ‘a myriad of healthy living campaigns’ in 2024.

William Byron

Among the most interesting paint schemes to be announced, William Byron’s livery with Axalta Racing and Raptor became the subject of heavy discussion owing to black patches on the car that were supposedly used to fool NASCAR’s 3D scanning system.

The Axalta livery featured a white paint scheme with classic red flames, while the Raptor scheme was more in line with the jungle, with a predominantly green base and black patterns that didn’t quite sit well with fans. Byron will also run a navy blue and white Valvoline livery in 2024, which was revealed rather hysterically by a die-cast announcement.

Alex Bowman

One of the most eye-catching liveries for 2024 has to be Bowman’s paint scheme with long-time sponsor Ally. The purple and pink livery we have all come to love has been dialled up a notch, with a more intricately designed front end and a more detailed finish to the entire design.

Carson Hocevar

Ending the list of the most prominent paint schemes we know so far that will grace the track in the coming weeks, Spire Motorsports’ announcement about Michigan-based Zeigler Auto Group’s sponsorship commitment to a fellow Michigan native, Carson Hocevar, took the community by storm. The brand is all set to appear in a menacing black and yellow paint scheme on Hocevar’s Camarao ZL1 for 9 races in 2024!

Christopher Bell

While Christopher Bell wasn’t expecting to be a feature on Netflix’s NASCAR Full: Speed at the start of 2023, it has certainly resulted in the young star quickly amassing a few sponsorship deals. Just in time for the Busch Light Clash, Joe Gibbs Racing announced that Bell will be running a red, white and black Pegasus Mobil 1 livery on the #20 Ford Mustang Darkhorse.

Martin Truex Jr

There’s perhaps no livery that encapsulated the atmosphere of the Clash at the Coliseum better than Martin Truex Jr and Bass Pro Shop’s stunning orange livery and grey camo livery. Joe Gibbs Racing shared on X,  “New ink @MartinTruex_Jr and the @BassProShops No. 19 team are L.A. bound for the start of the 2024 #NASCAR season.
