Christopher Bell is currently in the form of his life, having won two NASCAR Cup races in a row. Now, the Joe Gibbs Racing star is gunning for a hat-trick of wins at the Phoenix Raceway. In the buildup to the race, what are the odds of each driver winning the Shriners Childrens 500? With these two wins, Bell is practically guaranteed a Playoff berth, but does he want more?
This weekend’s race will last 312 laps around the one-mile Phoenix Raceway tri-oval. Owing to his current form, the #20 Joe Gibbs Racing driver is a +500 favorite to win, as per FanDuel. The weather forecast suggests that there will be sunny skies and temperatures around 70°F.
Aside from Bell, there are other drivers who have odds to be the favorite to win at Phoenix. Among them is Ryan Blaney, who boasts of a +550 odds, which is well-earned because Team Penske has been in fine form. Meanwhile, Hendrick Motorsports trio Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and William Byron boast of a +850, and +1000 and +1000, respectively.

Hendrick Motorsports are perennial NASCAR favorites
FanDuel operates in such a way that it simulates the races 10,000 times to predict a win. Furthermore, the model also takes into account track history and recent results of the various drivers. According to it, Hendrick Motorsports will be the favorites for the overall season. It also was interesting to note that some of its predictions have been fairly accurate.
Case in point, people who predicted Chase Elliott to win the Clash at Bowman Gray earned a +300 payout. Meanwhile, fans who bet on William Byron to win his second consecutive Daytona 500 earned a +2000 longshot payout. Continuing the HMS trend, Kyle Larson was tipped to win the 2024 Las Vegas race for a 21 to 5 odds. That wasn’t the only Larson win it successfully as predicted, as FanDuel correctly predicted five wins in his title-winning season.

Moving away from Hendrick Motorsports, the model predicted Denny Hamlin’s wins at Bristol and Richmond in 2024. In all, a grand total of 19 winners since 2021, out of which nine came in 2023. Now, the simulations have tipped Christopher Bell as a favorite to win the Shriners Children’s 500.

Who else could be a threat to Christopher Bell at Phoenix?
Another driver with positive odds for the 2025 Shriners Children’s NASCAR Cup race is Ross Chastain. Though it has to be stated that he is arguably a longshot for the win. This is largely because he has adapted well to the Next-Gen Car. Case in point, five wins and two playoff appearances in three seasons. Back in 2023, he even won the series finale in Phoenix, though he was already out of title contention by then.

Despite the good odds on Bell, he has not had such great results at Phoenix. He may also try to take things easier in the coming races, knowing that his seat in the Playoffs, is secure. Though some would suggest that he did luck out a little because he only led nine laps in the last two weeks. It could be argued that he led the laps that really counted towards the win. That being said, Christopher Bell’s Phoenix form has been inconsistent.
Although he won the spring race in 2024, he led 132 laps in the finale, and ended the NASCAR Cup race in fifth. Of course, it would be foolish to count out any driver from winning the race. The likes of William Byron, Chase Briscoe, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin are all past race winners. As a result, they will also have an outside chance of winning the Shriners Children’s 500 at the Phoenix Raceway. Then again, everything depends on how qualifying will play out for this weekend and who bags pole position for the race.
