NASCAR veteran Matt DiBenedetto’s hopes have come crashing down with his crucial 2024 sponsorship deal not going how he had hoped. The former Cup Series driver had been a constant presence in the elite division for seven seasons but was forced to take a sabbatical from the top-tier faction and focus more on the Truck side of the competition to return to his winning ways. However, it looks like the driver is not getting back to that anytime soon, as bad luck has continued creating issues for the veteran.

After DiBenedetto got replaced at Rackley W.A.R., the driver and his fans were optimistic that he would land in a better position this year. But, as the silly season draws to a close with just about 11 days left until the season-opener, ill luck has yet again done its course on him as his latest sponsorship deal went awry.

Having won his last race in 2022 in the Craftsman Truck Series, Matt DiBenedetto was long due for a major turnaround. The driver and his ardent following had high hopes during his 2023 season. But that did not fall into place like he thought it would, and unfortunately, that trend has continued into this year. At the end of the day, NASCAR is a business, and sponsorships are paramount. And just a few days ago, DiBenedetto gave a “delayed update” on his 2024 plans, revealing that he had to “pull the plug” on a sponsorship deal. Now, he’s come out with a more “transparent” update.

“I’m sitting here thinking about it, and the other day, when I posted and gave you guys an update, I was treading lightly because it was all fresh,” he said. As we near the commencement of the 2024 season, the driver dropped a bomb, revealing how the sponsor essentially left him stranded. “Further update, not that it matters. The reality of it was we had a signed pretty big sponsor deal and they lied. And didn’t follow through on their end. So, that’s why we had to pull the plug.”

This came after Rackley W.A.R. decided to pull the plug on Matt DiBenedetto’s 2023 season with 3 races to go. Consequently, the driver confirmed the news that he would leave Rackley, and soon, rumors about a possible Cup and Xfinity Series promotion filled the void. However, as per the latest update, neither the sponsorship nor the racing seat is falling into place. To put things into perspective, the 32-year-old needed a ride and a major sponsor to have a bright 2024.

DiBenedetto may have “made his peace” with everything that’s happened in the past few months. But as he revealed the news about the sponsorship falling through and, with it, his potential chances of racing in 2024, his fans jumped on the scene to announce their support.

Despite the failed opportunity, the driver remains in good faith. “Unfortunate. But just like in racing, you got to drive and race up the front windshield, not the rear. Got to live life that way, and I’m at peace with it all. Everything will work out. But either way, I just want to be truthful and honest with you guys,” he concluded.

Seeing as DiBenedetto admitted that he’s getting older, his 2024 turnaround is nothing but disheartening. And this is, in fact, an alarming situation considering how even an experienced driver like DiBenedetto couldn’t land a deal. With the trucker breaking the sad news to his following, fans supported the driver with sweet and reassuring words.

The Lord has a plan even though we don’t always understand why things happen the way they do. Keep trusting Him!” He replied, “Amen to that 100%!” Another fan resonated with Matt DiBenedetto’s feelings about the whole situation happening because it had to. They wrote, “That’s unfortunate but just means it wasn’t meant to be, and the right one is still out there.” DiBenedetto couldn’t help but agree with them with a resounding “absolutely!”

Even though this opportunity didn’t work out for the driver, his fans are hopeful that better things are to come. “When one door closes, another always opens. Can’t wait to see what’s next!” It isn’t just him who’s going through this. It’s his entire team. At a time like this, when there isn’t much they can do, a fan wrote, “God bless Matt! Praying for you guys, brother!”
