As Tony Stewart and Stewart-Haas Racing try to shake off a dismal start to their 2024 season, with questions surrounding the new Ford Mustang Darkhorse, the concerns for the boss may have just grown tenfold. How so? Well, it’s all to do with their vehicle transporter – the one they displayed on Instagram just a couple of days ago. Turns out, the comments on that post were a foreshadowing…

Stewart-Haas Racing revealed its glorious vehicle transporter on Instagram, showcasing its ability to carry six Next Gen cars at a time to tracks. Along with the cars, it’s also used to transport essential supplies such as parts and firetruck suits. The hauler will meet the main 4 haulers in Phoenix,” the video disclosed. It added, “They will hand off the Phoenix cars and bring the Las Vegas cars back to the shop in Kannapolis, NC.” As impressive as the entire thing was, there was one concern the NASCAR community had.

“That’s one truck you sure don’t want to wreck,” wrote one follower. Another asked a question along similar lines: “What do you do if [it got in] a wreck on the way to the track?” As it turns out, that may have happened. At least as per videos and reports that have made their way to social media.

Unfortunately, the truck was caught in a major pileup in El Paso, heading East toward Vegas. The truck, visibly featuring the SH logo on its cabin door in the video, was stranded on the side of I-10 East at Geronimo, as reported by the EPPoliceTraffic X account. According to various news reports, the crash in Central El Paso temporarily closed all lanes.

Since the hauler was returning from Phoenix to SHR’s base after swapping the cars around, it’s safe to say Tony Stewart & Co. dodged a bullet just in time to try to salvage their 2024 season. While there hasn’t been any official statement from SHR regarding the accident, it seems like the truck escaped with minor damage. However, the true extent of the losses for SHR will only come to light later in the day. Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time an SHR hauler has been involved in an accident.

In 2022, the #98 Xfinity Series hauler was heading to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. But on the way, it got involved in a single-car accident on I-40 near Flagstaff, Arizona. Interestingly, both accidents were to do with Arizona and Las Vegas. Coming back to SHR’s current season. While the team hopes to secure solid results this weekend amidst talks of SHR moving toward the rumored Honda entry being dismissed, the incident could have derailed their entire operation.

However, it seems like it, fortunately, hasn’t. Still, fans immediately began discussing whether SHR’s Cup Series cars for Phoenix were involved, fearing the worst on X.

The initial few seconds of the video didn’t give away that the hauler belonged to Stewart-Haas Racing. But once fans reached the part where the team’s logo is clearly seen, discourse began on X instantly. Users pulled no punches against SHR as one stated, “Well, if they weren’t gonna win before, they definitely aren’t gonna win now.”

After watching the team’s earlier video on the hauler that they had posted, fans feared for the worst. “Yep… And that’s the hauler with ALL SIX CUP CARS…” Another chimed in, “Damn, even their luck is bad.” Others hoped for the best, considering that it was a major pileup with other cars involved. A concerned user stated, “Prayers for SHR and everyone involved in the crash. I don’t have any details, but I will update in the morning. I just hope everyone’s ok.”

However, well-informed fans noticed that the truck had met with the incident heading East, toward Vegas, meaning that the cars for Phoenix had been swapped around safely. A user shared with the concerned ones, “That’s the hauler that’s taken all of this week’s Cup cars out west and bringing the Vegas cars back.” Another investigative user backed them. “I-10 East, so likely made the swap and headed back to the shop with the Vegas cars.”

Although it looks likely that none of Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cup cars were caught in the accident, the community hopes for a speedy recovery for all involved.
