Last year, Kevin Harvick was in the form of his life and was one of the favorites for the title. Unfortunately, all that changed at the Martinsville Speedway playoff race. Over here, nine Cup wins made no difference, as he had to either win the playoff or score enough points.
The closing laps of the race saw him behind Kyle Busch and battling for the final point-scoring position. Heading into the final corner, Harvick’s Stewart-Haas was very close to Busch’s Joe Gibbs car. Then in an act of desperation, Kevin Harvick dived down the inside of Busch, but could not make the move stick.

Then, in what could be described as a bone-headed move, he drove into Busch. Naturally, this sent the #18 driver into a spin, but unfortunately for Harvick, he spun as well. To make matters worse for the #4 driver, Busch did a full 360° spin and managed to keep his position.

For the Stewart-Haas driver, his own spin sent him into the wall and cost him several places. What it also meant was that he lost his chance of making the Championship 4. In the end, the showdown was between, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, and Brad Keselowski.
Now, Harvick returns to the scene where he lost his championship bid. However, on this occasion, he is not competing in the playoff, but battling in the regular season. Without a doubt, he is an exceptional driver and has performed the best out of his Stewart-Haas teammates in 2021.

Although he has yet to win a Cup race in 2021, he will be keen to correct that slight at Martinsville. On the bright side, he has won the Blu-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 in the 2011 season. So, he is definitely capable of reaching Victory lane at the track.
