This time around, Hendrick Motorsports is leaving no stone unturned to ensure they have a brilliant evening at their ‘Fortress’. With Kyle Larson as the defending champion, HMS are confident they can challenge for the win this weekend. But that isn’t the primary focus. For NASCAR’s winningest team, Martinsville will mark its 40th anniversary, and to celebrate, HMS is pulling out all the stops.
Whilst having The Rock as the Grand Marshall earlier this season was a treat in itself, passionate fans will love what the sport has in store for Martinsville. An HMS legend, Geoff Bodine, is all set to take on the role of the Grand Marshal for the Cook Out 400. Bodine won HMS’ first-ever race over four decades ago and is a fitting inclusion to the celebrations.
Speaking of HMS and winning, how couldn’t Jeff Gordon be included too? The HMS executive will also take on the Grand Marshal role, honoring him for winning at Martinsville nine times! Gordon’s last Cup win also came at the half-mile track in 2015. But that’s not all!

Rick Hendrick himself will drive the pace car before the Cup Series race to celebrate the team’s milestone. Considering his drivers have brought in 28 wins and a total of 10,614 laps led at Martinsville throughout the years, no other track is as fitting to honor HMS’ legacy in NASCAR.
