Retirement hardly matters when your love for the sport is never-ending. The same can be said for Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader. Despite officially hanging their racing boots a long time back, they don’t intend to slow down. Schrader is 68 and Wallace just turned 60, but the ‘veteran’ or the ‘old man’ tag hardly suits them. Apparently, the Ken duo enjoy a great relationship off the track. They have their busy schedule of races planned throughout. Apart from that, we see them together in videos brought forward by Kenny Wallace’s famous YouTube channel. And this time, they came together for a dirt racing event in Florida.

Kenny Wallace and Kenny Schrader’s bromance on full display

Wallace and Schrader did not actually retire from motorsports, as they continue to dominate the wheels, even at this age. This time, they ventured out for a dirt track race together at Northwest Florida Speedway, near Pensacola. Their outing was recorded by Kenny Wallace himself after the race, and was uploaded on his YouTube channel.

“We are at the Northwest Motor Speedway about an hour and a half from Pensacola, Florida. And I’m driving the stroke race, slim chicken stock card. There’s about 60 of these bad boys, we started six in our heat and we finished third,” said Wallace.

“There’s my mod,” added Wallace, pointing at his car. He continued, “So I started third, I was running third and ended up fifth. I had a tough time negotiating turns one and two but I’m having a really good time. There is 99 of those and like 60 of hundreds of cars, I got a little cold.”

In the later part of the video, Wallace went to meet Schrader in his van. The cheerful Wallace had a great time with Schrader’s team official Joe. He even found himself bound in a hilarious conversation with Schrader. Wallace asked, “Kenny do you like me?” To which Schrader replied, “I love you.” The bromance between these two NASCAR legends is sure to melt your heart.

“Really, every part of racing is still fun for me. The travel, the actual racing, being in the shop with the guys, getting ready to go racing, going to different tracks and racing different cars. It’s never gotten to the point where I’ve ever thought about quitting. I’ve never given it a thought, never even considered not doing this for as long as I can,” shared Schrader.

On the other hand, Wallace won his much-awaited Gator at Volusia Speedway earlier this month. He explained how his family and Schrader motivated him to participate in the event and credited them for giving him the motivation to keep going even at this age. “There was a time I was going to quit. And Kenny Schrader said you can’t quit. Don Prudhomme said you can’t quit. Walker Evans, everybody. So this whole deal was about Nick and myself and Darrell Hoffman being a good friend,” the veteran shared.

Looking at the duos resolve, it is safe to say that their thrill towards the extreme adrenaline rush is sure to inspire generations of racers.
