Kenny Wallace said, “I know, I said, William Byron and Chase Elliott were the hottest things going, but they are not right now. That’s how sports is, that’s how NASCAR is. It changes like the weather.”
Wallace also predicted that Ross Chastain would win the championship, and ranked Christopher Bell second, Logano third, and Chase Elliott fourth.
What did William Byron say right after being knocked out of the playoffs?
William Byron was not able to advance to the final round of the championship battle. After the race, the media spotted him and asked a few questions about what he thought about being eliminated.

Byron stated, “Unfortunately, we weren’t really even in the game… Early on I thought that man we were making some progress but, we just struggled all day. The first three-quarters of the race were pretty miserable and we just kept our heads down and got a decent finish out of it. So it’s a good lesson for the day but certainly kinda struggled all day. Nothing like what we had in the spring and just tied and not a lot of pace…”
“It wasn’t in the cards and it wasn’t meant to be we just have to accept that and move on.”

We are sure if Chase Elliott got word of all this being said, he would definitely not be too happy about it. After all, Elliott had been having an excellent season and now everything seems to be crumbling around the Dawsonville native.
