The ball was set rolling by Byron when he wrecked Denny Hamlin at Texas Motor Speedway. Since the incident took place at a crucial stage of the season, there was a lot of discussion around it. But what took the limelight was NASCAR’s decision or the lack of one.
NASCAR allowed the race to complete and gave Byron a steep 25-point penalty along with a $50,000 fine. Hendrick Motorsports appealed against the decision and got an easy win at the NMAP. The forum ruled in favor of the team and reinstated the points penalty in exchange for a bigger monetary penalty.
Now at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, another incident such incident took place. Bubba Wallace wiped out Kyle Larson with his Chevy in response to an aggressive move from the Toyota driver. But things didn’t end there. Bubba got out of the car fuming and charged towards Larson, shoved him, and landed a few meaty blows on him.
Social media and pundits have been busy offering their opinion and hot takes on the incident. But Michael Waltrip, a NASCAR driver himself, offered his opinion on it too. The take looks innocuous, but fans haven’t taken too kindly to his views.
Waltrip looks to have stepped on a slippery slope with his comments. It is important NASCAR takes an apt decision for Bubba’s actions.
Twitterati tears apart Waltrip for his take on the Bubba Wallace incident
The former NASCAR driver posted the following tweet about the incident –
I like @BubbaWallace and @KyleLarsonRacin and I like @WilliamByron and @dennyhamlin Shit happens and we race on and we get on with life. I like Lake Speed too. 😉

Michael when you take into account what happened to Kurt and Alex you can’t be right hooking people into the wall down a straightaway it doesn’t matter who likes who here

Bubba wasn't just trying to "rattle his cage". What if Kyle suffered a concussion, like Kurt?

I dont like to tolerate shitty behaviour, even if it were a cloae friend or from family. If you respect someone, you tell them when you see them making stupid things https://t.co/fUf7SBMXNN
