After debuting in 1988 and driving for over 27 years in the national series, Kenny Wallace parted ways with NASCAR by the end of the 2015 season. However, the veteran didn’t compromise on his Dirt Racing knack, and to this date, he competes in over 60 races per year. So, astounding him is not child’s play, and Larson precisely did that.

While unraveling Larson’s proficiency as a stock car racer, Wallace couldn’t help but bring attention to a fact about the HMS driver that he is very fond of and said, “[The] thing about Kyle Larson that I liked, he taught me a little bit. He thinks that one thing that separates him from the others in Dirt Racing is his ability to win and rise above the rest, or as Jimmy Spencer would say, ‘rise above the crop.'”

In an instant, Wallace went down memory lane and recalled when Spencer said those words and his uncontrollable laughter was the only thing evident after that. Soon enough, the former racer came back to Larson, unfurled his astonishment, and said, “When the dirt track is very rough, I asked Kyle Larson and said, ‘How in the hell do you run so good on that real rough racetrack!? What do you do? Tell me some techniques you use.'”

While exploring Larson’s way of racing, Wallace shared his way of taming the car on the rough tracks and said, “What I would do right now is you know I go in on the right front because I don’t want the right rear to see first.”

Larson started by denoting that it varies as per the situation and said, “I’m picturing kind of one lane at the bottom, smoother, and then there’s like some rough choppiness through the middle, and you can go way above it, find you a lot of grip, and smoother surface or whatever, but run through the holes.”

The HMS prodigy then unfurled a few details but ultimately confessed the lack of knowledge of his driving style and said, “I think you definitely can’t hit too sideways but you got to get your wheel spin up as much as you can which takes a lot of confidence… I really don’t know what my driving style is.”

Wallace’s astonishment was boundless, and he couldn’t help but comment, “It’s just God-given talent. You adjust in the millisecond, don’t you?”
