In the hilarious news of the week section of the NASCAR world, there emerged the tale of the parents who built, yes, built a racetrack in their backyard. The Bryants built a 2.5 miles speedway for their son who dreams of going to NASCAR one day, behind their house in Poquoson, Virginia.

Speaking about Jared Bryant, his mother spoke about why they resorted to this extremely extreme and unusually unusual option for their son.

“Jared really wants to be a NASCAR driver when he grows up, so we think it will help him develop his driving skills if he can just go outside and race a few laps on the NASCAR-regulation superspeedway track we had installed over by the fence,” she said.

Bryant added that they also bought three Next Gen stock cars (while there is a supply shortage in the sport) that can hit speeds of up to 200 mph so Jared can practice with his friends.

“Honestly, we weren’t really using that part of the yard, anyway, and it’s gratifying as a parent to be able to help your son fulfill his athletic aspirations. Now he can go out there and drive 250 laps whenever he wants,” Bryant added.

Now, as you can imagine, the fans had a field day with this news.

Iconic speedway set for NASCAR comeback

North Wilkesboro Speedway was recently announced to be going a restoration in order to make it fit for racing again. This would mean the iconic racetrack will all but surely make its comeback on the NASCAR schedule again, something former driver Dale Earnhardt Jr has been trying to do for a while now.

In fact, the CEO of the track, Marcus Smith, thanked Dale Jr. for his continuous support of the revival of the speedway.

“A big thanks to Dale Earnhardt Jr who asked me about cleaning up the track back in December 2019, just for the purpose of cleaning it up for iRacing. And I really think that was the catalyst that put things over the tipping point to get us where we are today,” he said during the press conference.
