Not many really expected William Byron’s penalty to be amended the way it was. But it got to that point, which furthered the conspiracy theories of NASCAR favoring Hendrick Motorsports. But what happened, could happen again in the coming days with Kyle Larson this time in place of his teammate?

Well, spotter Brett Griffin thinks so, albeit in a joking, no harm no foul way.

In a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Griffin opened up on the Cole Custer block which aided his teammate, Chase Briscoe, ultimately leading to the exit of Larson, and then further developing into the incident being marked by NASCAR for further investigation, with one peculiar point.

“Spot on for what (Cole) Custer did, it’s his teammate. I’m spot off for the fact that NASCAR publically said, ‘We’re going to investigate this. It’s not going to change the drivers who are in the playoffs,’” Griffin said. “WHAT?!”

This led Freddie Kraft, the spotter of Bubba Wallace, to add the aforementioned peculiarity into the mix – “What they said was, they’re not gonna affect the 8 that are in the playoffs…so maybe we put Larson back in there.”

“Man, Rick Hendrick can make magic happen,” Griffin added. “Saw it last week, live.”

“We’re gonna investigate it, but we’re not gonna do anything.”

Kyle Larson found himself to blame after failing to defend his NASCAR Crown

Kyle Larson was naturally quite dejected after failing to defend his crown in back-to-back years. And yes, there were a lot of factors and moments that played a role in this entire recipe, but the #5 driver found himself to blame for where he stood.

“It’s frustrating to end like this,” Larson said of the race at ROVAL. “As up-and-down as I was this season, I’m not surprised I made a mental mistake, and it cost us at an important time.”

“Just a dumb mistake on my part.”
