NASCAR Insider Unearths Low-Maintenance Friend Dale Jr’s Contagious Excitement and Influence on People’s Accent

It’s no secret Dale Earnhardt Jr is one of the most influential NASCAR drivers both on and off the track. Whether it’s the CARS Tour series picking up pace or Earnhardt making a shocking departure from the NBC Broadcaster’s booth, the Jr Motorsports owner finds himself in the limelight one way or another. With that said, Earnhardt Jr hasn’t just influenced the careers of many budding racers but, as Ryan McGee reveals, has also had quite an impact on his peers’ accents!

How Dale Earnhardt Jr’s accent rubs off on even the toughest of journalists

In the latest episode of Dale Earnhardt Jr’s podcast, the Dale Jr Download, veteran ESPN insider known for his college football and NASCAR coverage, Ryan McGee, sat down with the hosts in Junior’s absence to discuss all things about his career and interactions with drivers through the years. As the conversation progressed toward his run-ins with Earnhardt Jr, the insider recalled how the quirks in Junior’s vocabulary had had a major influence on all who encountered it.

McGee shared, “Dale (Jr), he’s the friend that, you don’t see him is much as you want to. You don’t talk so much. I’m very conscious about not bothering him because he’s busy, and I think he does the same for me, but when we get together it’s great! In fact, the way I just said that sounds like Dale, right? ‘It’s great, you know!’”

McGee had also unknowingly copied Earnhardt Jr’s accent perfectly and went on to explain how Junior’s recent visit to the show ‘Marty & McGee’ had left a lasting change in the pair’s accents. He added, “Marty and I have joked ever since that Dale’s that guy that, when you spend a little time with him, you start talking like him. (It’s like) your British friend.”

Explaining how Dale Earnhardt Jr uses a certain word at the end of his sentences, McGee stated how it’s added a word in his and Marty’s dictionaries. He added, “So when you’re hanging around with Dale, everything’s “Awesome! That’s Awesome!” you know?” McGee added that ever since last Saturday when they had the conversation, the pair have been using the word ‘awesome’ more than ever before.

Talking about Earnhardt Jr’s speech pattern, McGee explained how Junior would resort to the punchlines at the end of the sentence when he would be excited. He concluded, “He’ll go, ‘Right!’ you know, but it just tells you he’s genuinely excited. When he’s not doing that, you’re like, alright, he’s ready to go.”

Earnhardt Junior isn’t just a big influence on NASCAR drivers, but also on those who come to witness his quirky lingo often. But while fans might have to hold out a bit longer to witness his shenanigans after he departed from NBC, Junior is wasting no time preparing to enjoy the 2024 season.

Dale Earnhardt Junior recently took the camping world by storm after RV dealer Camping World shared a photo of Junior and his family in front of their newly purchased 2024 Keystone Cougar 364BHL fifth wheel. According to reports, Junior will be using the luxurious RV along with Amy Earnhardt and daughters Rose and Nicole Lorraine for cross-country camping trips as Junior figures out what’s next for his post-NASCAR career.

Junior shared his excitement on X, “Lots of consideration on what was right for my family. So many great options. Gonna go make some memories this year in our @CampingWorld RV”. And while it may seem Junior’s bought just any other RV produced by Keystone, that truly isn’t the case.

Matt Christensen, GM for the Cougar lineup of RVs shared how Junior’s gone the extra mile to personalize his new camping home. He was quoted by RVBusiness, “We were excited about it because he (Earnhardt) picked those floor plans out for his family. I think the Midnight Edition with the full body paint and Phantom Grey color really jumped out to him. It does have some extra bells and whistles, including an extra lighting package and an upgraded solar package plus lithium batteries.”

With that said, it seems Earnhardt Junior is all set to enjoy his time away from the broadcasting booth by basking in the sun with the family as they tour America in their brand-new RV!
