Just recently, Joey Logano stirred the pot with some remarks that caught everyone’s attention. He pointed out how NASCAR drivers, despite having deep pockets, often keep their feet on the ground. Interestingly, he also tossed in the idea that the fans might be getting a bit too comfortable with this down-to-earth attitude, calling them ‘spoiled’.

However, this didn’t sit well with Brett Griffin, one of the hosts of Door Bumper Clear, who didn’t shy away from calling Logano out. Not one to back down, Logano clapped back, insisting his words had been twisted and misinterpreted. Joey Logano felt that Brett Griffin was taking a jab at his character, which he didn’t take lightly. The situation seems to be heating up, with tensions rising on both sides.

Joey Logano had made an appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio’s The Morning Drive, where he didn’t hold back in responding to Brett Griffin’s comments on Door Bumper Clear. Frustrated, Logano talked openly about being misunderstood. “When I hear what Brett Griffin said on that (Door Bumper Clear) podcast, attacking my character, just made me say, ‘This guy does not know and he has a microphone.’ And it’s a bad feeling to hear all of that,” Logano openly shared. He even went as far as to label Griffin a headline chaser, accusing him of twisting stories for the limelight.

Joey Logano visibly irked, lamented that this is just how the media game is played nowadays. In his view, folks like Brett Griffin use driver names as bait to reel in listeners. “I was a target of that because of a comment that was taken out of context. That was the frustrating part,” he said.

Logano added, “Bottom line is, I care because obviously someone attacked my character, but I also understand that some of it is just life, and if people don’t really know you, you kind of just got to move on. But also wanted to clarify here that I love my race fans. And I love all of the race fans, right? Love me or hate me, I’m only here because we have race fans. And that’s why we give them great access.”

Freddie Kraft, fellow DBC host and Bubba Wallace‘s spotter, was quick to fire back, referencing a post by Matt Weaver that recapped Logano’s comments on the radio show. Kraft was blunt in his assessment as he said, “Nothing was taken out of context. He got called out for a poor choice of words. He regrets what he said and is attempting to walk it back, which is completely understandable. I still don’t think he understands that the average fan has little to no access to the drivers.”

Interestingly, the fans seem to be splitting hairs over this whole squabble. Despite Logano’s comments about NASCAR fans being pampered, most fans are still rallying behind him.

After the whole brouhaha, Logano was reportedly invited onto the DBC podcast to clear the air. But many fans suspect that the DBC crew might have stirred the pot just for the limelight. One concerned fan expressed reservations about Logano joining the DBC podcast, saying, “I feel like if Joey did go on DBC it could turn very heated very quickly. That could be bad for all involved.”

Another fan, while not exactly thrilled with Logano’s remarks, acknowledged his efforts with the fans. “I did not like Joey’s comments but I will say this. I did the Garage Experience at Talladega for the last 3 races and he signs more autographs than every driver with the exception of Ross Chastain.

So he is putting in the effort for fans to get autographs it seems. Of course, Talladega’s access is not typical of most tracks.” Recalling a personal encounter at Martinsville, one fan noted, “At Martinsville, it did seem like he tried his best to at least fist bump everyone on the fan experience. He does seem like an overall good dude.”

Echoing Logano’s sentiments, another enthusiast pointed out, “That seems to be Brett’s way of doing things. Talk about the driver, and then when the driver doesn’t come on, talk worse about the driver.”

A straightforward fan chimed in, questioning the rationale behind Logano ever wanting to appear on DBC: “I don’t see why Joey would ever want to go on DBC when all they do is shit on him for anything and everything almost weekly on there.” What’s your take on this unfolding drama?
