Apart from the raw and aggressive racing style, NASCAR is a sport often characterized by strong familial bonds. These bonds often develop over time among players, team owners, crew chiefs and crew, spotters, broadcasters, and fans. However, sometimes such bonds are preexisting, such as in cases of father–son duos or sibling pairs.

While NASCAR ovals have seen some legendary father-son duos like Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr, Bill and Chase Elliott, etc., the sport also has seen siblings racing one another. One such pair that comes to mind is Kurt and Kyle Busch, and fans just don’t seem to get enough of them.

The Busch brothers made the headlines this season as they became the winningest sibling pair in the history of the Cup Series.

Brett Griffin reveals the aspect that separates the Busch brothers from other sibling pairs

Brett Griffin, the spotter for Kaulig Racing, revealed his thoughts on the Busch brothers’ legacy during the latest episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast. As co-hosts TJ Majors and Freddie Kraft were speaking about Kurt Busch‘s emotional commentary during the final lap of the race at the Circuit of The Americas, Griffin jumped in on the conversation mentioning the brothers’ accomplishments.

“There’s so many brothers that were drivers that have come through the sport. And I think, and I’m sure statistics are gonna back this up, but I haven’t looked at the statistics, like the Busch brothers are by far the best brother duo,” Griffin said.

The show’s co-host Casey Boat chimed in, saying, “They now hold the record for the most wins by brothers.”

An enthusiastic Griffin went on to make his point, saying, “Right, but in the Cup series, you know you see guys, like Geoff Bodine, who was a really good race car driver; had some success in Hendrick [Motorsports]. And then you see Brett Bodine, who was also a good race car driver. I remember him driving the #26 Quaker State car. But Brett just never won much races.

“When you look at even the Waltrips, I mean, Darrel won 84 races and I think Michael won four, you know. And Michael certainly had a lot of opportunities to win, but didn’t pull it off.

“You look at the brothers and it’s like, it’s rare you see two brothers that are great and they are both great.”

The brothers became the winningest sibling pair in Cup Series when Kyle won his first race this season at the Auto Club Speedway.

Die-hard fans of the sport need no introduction to Kyle Busch and his older brother Kurt Busch—the duo recently edged past the Alabama Gang to become the winningest sibling pair in NASCAR’s history. With 95 Cup Series wins, the Busch brothers have overtaken Bobby and Donnie Allison.

44-year-old Kurt is now retired because of an unfortunate crash at Pocono last year. The former #45 driver and 2004 NASCAR Cup Series champion racked up 34 Cup wins in his illustrious career.

While 2x Cup Series champion Kyle Busch isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. Kyle is the only driver in history to have won over 60 wins in each of NASCAR’s top 3 series!
