“Rick Hendrick is going to sponsor…” claims NASCAR Insider about NASCAR’s favorite team, Hendrick Motorsports
Hendrick Motorsports (HMS) has perennially been a titan in NASCAR with its undeniable presence and impact. As it stands, two of the team’s driving stalwarts, William Byron and Kyle Larson, are riding high in the top-5 of the playoff standings. Yet, for the likes of Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman, the path to playoff qualification appears more arduous.
The spotlight, however, recently pivoted to Kyle Larson’s ambitions for the 2024 Indianapolis 500, unveiled with grandeur at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Onlookers were treated to the revelation of Larson’s design for the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet, an elegant collaboration with Arrow McLaren. Larson is now setting his sights on “The Double,” a formidable challenge of racing in the Indianapolis 500 over the Memorial Day weekend, aptly termed the Hendrick 1100, denoting the staggering 1,100 miles that await the 2021 Cup Series victor.
Yet industry insider Kenny Wallace divulges a pivotal assertion. The ability to back the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 lies in HMS’s abundant coffers. Wallace eloquently states, “Kyle Larson next year is going to do the double. He is going to run the Indianapolis 500 with Mclaren, and their colors are orange. A lot of people say Larson does not have a sponsor, he really does! HendrickCars.com, even though that’s his owner it does count; Rick Hendrick is printing money.”
Wallace further elucidates, “Rick Hendrick is going to sponsor that Indy Car. It looks good; it’s kind of white-blue. Rick Hendrick said, I’ll match you; I’ll go with the color orange, so hendrickcars.com is going to sponsor that Indy car too.”
It’s vital to underscore the magnitude of this dual challenge, and Larson himself hasn’t shied away from voicing his apprehensions in media interactions.

Kyle Larson’s prelude: Taking the first step toward double duty next year
In the ensuing racing season, Kyle Larson is set to embrace an audacious endeavor. Taking a leaf out of Kurt Busch’s book, Larson gears up to juggle the colossal task of vying in both the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 within the same day’s span. While the marquee event still lies a year in the future, a sneak peek of Larson’s livery for these imminent races graced the Indiana racing scene this weekend. As per hendrickmotorsports.com, upon this revelation, Larson voiced a cocktail of excitement and trepidation, foreseeing the butterflies that would inevitably flutter as race day approached.
“Obviously, I’m extremely excited, but at the same time, I’m so busy racing and trying to take care of my family that I haven’t — like it hasn’t really set in yet that it’s truly a reality. When you have days like today and you unveil the car, all those little steps, it definitely makes it seem more real.”
Delving deeper into his sentiments, he added, “I’m sure once things slow down in the offseason and I have a lot of time to sit around and think about the upcoming season, is when it’s really going to hit. I’m sure that’s when all the nervousness will start to creep in, but as well as the excitement.”
