NASCAR’s seasonal races constitute a body of work. Needless to say, the result of that work is your ticket to the most coveted playoffs. Surely, there are two other top-tier race series that NASCAR hosts, but one cannot just deny the superiority of the Cup Series. With just 8 weeks and 8 races to go till NASCAR crowns its 2023 Cup Series champion, each driver in the playoff rumble is feeling the rush in their blood.
Last week at Kansas Speedway, nine out of the sixteen drivers had problems, either with their cars or with their strategies. HMS star Chase Elliott even went as far as launching a counter-nudge at his teammate at the exit of the pit road. The fates of Bubba Wallace and Martin Truex Jr. mirrored each other as both blew their tires off despite having winning speed. Amidst the commotion, a NASCAR insider fixed his eyes on who he thought could pose a winning contention moving forward to Bristol Motor Speedway.

The tire blow-off omen seemed to haunt Brad Keselowski‘s star driver, Chris Buescher, in the closing stages of the race. This pulled the #17 speedster from running in 12th place to a disappointing 27th-place finish. However, the team owner’s luck was not as bitter as that of his teammate.
In a three-way conversation with NBC analyst Rick Allen and Hall of Famer Dale Jarrett, NASCAR veteran Jeff Burton revealed why he felt RFK Racing would give strong competition to everyone on the grid.
“They were just steady all day,” said Burton, “They didn’t make any major mistakes, they may have some small ones. Ground out a really good finish, did not have winning pace but had a good run and gained a lot of points.”
“So for me, Brad Keselowski and that team had a very solid day, “ he added.

Back in the opening playoff race at Darlington, Kyle Busch crashed his #8 RCR Chevy while at practice, flunking him out of the qualifying run. And when the mishap repeated itself for the KB Motorsports owner in Kansas, he might have been utterly disheartened. However, he displayed a great show of driving prowess by starting at the back of the pack and finishing in the top 10.
Kyle Busch now sits comfortably at rank 7 in the 2023 driver standings with 2080 points. Dale Jarrett admitted that he deemed Kyle Busch the winner in the final race of the round of 16. Jarrett exclaimed, “I think what he and his team were able to do manufacture that seventh place. They keep themselves with a lot of points going to a racetrack that over the years he’s just been phenomenal at Bristol.”

During the post-race interview, Rowdy acknowledged that he could have done better than he did at the 1.5-mile-long racetrack in Kansas City. “I think we got more than we should have or more than what we were capable of there,” he said, “Just unfortunate for us that you know we were kind of in that spot to right on the line of take two, take four (tires).”
Do you agree with Dale Jarrett? Whether you do or you don’t, you can probably tell that Kyle Busch will bring his A-game out at Bristol and try to snatch that valued win. We are as excited as you are!
