The outgoing JR Motorsports driver Josh Berry was finally seeing the light at the end of the rather long tunnel on Friday when he won the pole position. Berry had achieved his second career pole during the qualifiers for Saturday’s race at Pocono Raceway, but that celebration was rather fleeting in nature.
All three tiers of NASCAR that were hosted on the “Tricky Triangle” in the past weekend were nothing less than a spectacle for the eyes as wreck carnages ensued on the track. Only a few lucky drivers were able to escape the grasp of these wrecks and emerge scratch-free in the race.
Nonetheless, if all the wrecks and on-track debacles are taken into consideration, the most disheartening incident would assuredly be that involving Josh Berry. However, if all the past performances of Berry are taken into account, is it just the driver who is to be blamed for the outcomes? Well, NASCAR insiders would slightly beg to differ from the popular opinions.

Veteran spotter Brett Griffin calls out Dale Earnhardt Jr’s team after the Pocono disaster
There is no denying the fact that Josh Berry has surely witnessed what success looks like in the ongoing NASCAR season. Apart from standing tall in the points standings in the Xfinity Series, Berry made his Cup Series debut and had the opportunity of riding one of the most coveted seats of the grid, the #9 Chevrolet of Chase Elliott. And the icing on the cake was, earning his full-time Cup Series seat and replacing Kevin Harvick in the Stewart-Haas Racing garage in the upcoming season.
However, to juxtapose all the achievements of the driver earned in the ongoing, Berry is elusive of a victory. There have been handed down numerous opportunities in order to take the chequered but failed to capitalize on the situation, but the NASCAR insider and veteran spotter Brett Griffin believes Berry is not to be blamed alone for the results delivered.
Brett Griffin in the latest episode of Door Bumper Clear, asked TJ Majors, the spotter for JR Motorsports, on whether the driver was trying too hard to win in the race at Pocono. To this, TJ replied, “I mean, I don’t know if he was trying too hard, I think there was a situation he had been put out there in that race. I think there were a lot of restarts there and when you go out there and set them faster than what you were going all day because you gotta go push your behind for once, it’s different, so…
“But it’s okay because his confidence is probably down a little bit because we haven’t been able to get the finishes that we should have been getting. To be strong and loud for a while and to be strong at Pocono shows the potential of showing and tailoring them are getting better as the season goes here too.”
“I am okay with things are going, I think the momentum is building for the right time. If we can go off, you can’t tell me that Josh isn’t going to his name for winning almost every week now. If I told you that Josh wins two or three of the next Xfinity races, would you really be surprised?” Majors asked rhetorically.

Brett Griffin retorted that he would be surprised if TJ Majors’ words came true, even after the Pocono race debacle, but Majors was optimistic about his driver’s performance in the upcoming races.
However, Griffin stated, “How many races, listen I love JR Motorsports, if not for JR Motorsports we wouldn’t have this podcast […] so this is not a shoutout at the organization. They are giving away races left and right this year.”
Hearing to which Majors expressed that they had shot winning races at Daytona as well as Richmond, but was mired in an on-track incident with Freddie Kraft’s drivers. Nonetheless, Griffin concluded, “But JR Motorsports in general has given away 5 wins this year, they gotta fix that.”
