But Kyle Petty isn’t one to follow the crowd. In a recent video, he decided to give a reality check, despite the mixed outcomes.

Dubbed the biggest day in motorsports, it’s no small feat. Between Formula 1’s Monaco Grand Prix, IndyCar’s Indianapolis 500, and NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600, it’s a packed day of premier racing. NASCAR even adds a couple of warm-up acts to start the festivities. It’s a full plate for any racing fan.

But while Kyle Larson aimed to conquer two major races in one day, crossing from city to city, Mother Nature had other ideas, leaving fans hanging. But that does not make him any less of a talented driver than he is. He’s as versatile as Tony Stewart, capable of handling any race car. That’s why the double duty was no loss to him unless NASCAR decided against granting him a waiver. And Kyle Petty sees that potential in him. Just because it didn’t pan out this year doesn’t mean it won’t next year. After all, it took Tony Stewart a couple of tries to seal his reputation as the top double-duty driver.

Sharing similar sentiments, Kyle Petty, in his latest video, heaped praise on Kyle Larson despite the setbacks, stating, “Mother Nature intervenes Indy starts late he stays up there he runs in the top 10 all day long has a speeding penalty is relegated to an 18th Place finish, comes to Charlotte just in time to get in the car when the rain comes. So, what a let down for all the hype we saw. Still, Kyle Larson is the man.”

But Petty didn’t just focus on Larson. He also took a moment to acknowledge Christopher Bell’s performance, noting that it was great to see Bell clinch his second win of the season. He highlighted the ups and downs of racing, showing respect for both drivers’ efforts under challenging circumstances.

Bell had dominated 90 out of the 249 laps that were completed before the race was stopped due to lightning. When it was declared that the race wouldn’t resume, and Bell was announced as the winner, the crowd reacted negatively. Bell himself was puzzled by the reception, admitting in his post-race interview, “I got booed out of the place. […] I don’t know it just feels like whenever I win these things they have asterics on them.”

However, Kyle Petty sees it differently. He insists that Bell’s victory was just as legitimate as any other, even if it was rain-shortened. “Christopher Bell wins the race- rain-shortened nothing wrong with that. Earnhart won races rain-shortened, KY Petty even won a race shortened, Richard Petty, Cale Yarboro- all the greats have won race.“

He continued, “All the greats have won races that were rain shortened, there’s nothing wrong with that. You have just as much chance to win that race as the other 36 guys out there. You’ve got to put yourself in position. Christopher Bell put himself in position it was a great race there was a lot of racing going on.”
