Hollywood actor-turned-NASCAR driver Frankie Muniz has begun his racing career on a high. Making his professional debut in the ARCA Menards series earlier this year, Muniz has repaid every bit of faith Rette Jones Racing put in him. The former actor from the popular TV show ‘Malcolm in the Middle‘, produced one top 5 and 11 top 10 finishes in 2023 to finish 4th in the final standings. These impressive results have compelled teams in better competitions to keep close tabs on him.

Craftsman Truck Series teams have received rave reviews about the racing attributes of Muniz. Among the more imminent possibilities, the one that has the highest chance of becoming a reality is his moving to Xfinity as a full-time driver and simultaneously competing in the Truck Series in a part-time role. From the looks of it, the 37-year-old could be on his way to the upper echelons of stock-car racing.

Truck Series mainstays have followed Muniz since his race at the Berlin Raceway. However, it does not mean that he hasn’t faced his fair share of hiccups yet. In 20 races, he hasn’t finished a race 6 times and has only 7 lead-lap finishes. Although that could reflect him being a rookie and switching to a completely different profession, many teams are willing to bet on him. Among the notable possibilities, ThorSport Racing has emerged as a strong candidate for Muniz’s services.

The team’s #13 truck has been left empty with a highly expected move for Hailie Deegan to AM Racing. ThorSport can offer quality equipment and a pit crew to Frankie, which would benefit his blooming career a lot. Looking at their reputation in the tourney, Muniz could also attract some attention from possibly Cup Series teams.

The other team to pursue Frankie Muniz is Xfinity Team RSS Racing. Being a Ford ambassador, Muniz will play a key role in this move. Ryan Seig is ready to explore having Muniz as a teammate. RSS is ready to offer a full-time spot, making it the team’s third entry for 2024. Muniz will most likely get the #38 car alongside Ryan and Kyle Seig if the deal goes through.

With so many teams contending for his signature, it’s only natural to feel overwhelmed by it. At the same time, progressing his career will also take center stage for Frankie. 37 already; he does not have age on his side either.

Rette Jones team owner Mark Rette has already confirmed that Muniz will not be returning to the team in 2024. Among so many rumors, there’s still a decent chance of him staying at ARCA next year as well. If not Rette Jones, maybe some other team, but that possibility cannot be ruled out for now. Following the conclusion of his race at Toledo, he spoke to Frontstretch about what his future in NASCAR could look like.

“I do know what my plans are. I don’t know when we’ll be announcing it officially. … We want to make sure that when we do make the announcement, that we have all our ducks in a row and all that. So it’ll be sooner than later but more later than sooner.” claimed Frankie Muniz.

Reigniting the need for a sponsor, Mark Rette didn’t hide the hindrances behind a renewal. Revealing the distraction, he added, “It is going to depend on sponsorship, the same as we fought all year long. So as long as that materializes, there’s the possibility that he runs the speedway and 1.5-mile portion of the schedule.

Up until now, Frankie has continued to improve and has experienced what a setback in NASCAR feels like as well. With opportunities galore, it is up to him to make the best choice for his career.
