Racing in NASCAR puts immense pressure on the driver’s body. Not many choose to stay and drive beyond a certain age, but there are always exceptions to that rule. Red Farmer is one of the most renowned exceptions. At the age of 90, Red Farmer is the oldest driver to have ever raced in NASCAR. His ability to do so comes from his love for the sport, which is evidently infinite, as he has shown time and again.
A NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee and among the first ever to have raced in NASCAR, Farmer has seen all possible ups and downs of the sport. Once a member of the famous Alabama Gang, he has seen many of his friends and rivals pass away during the course of his stay in NASCAR.

There have been personal obstacles on the way to this unbelievable longevity too. For instance, he had been suffering from double pneumonia and was hospitalized last month. That hospitalization was his second of 2022, having been under care in April also for double pneumonia.
But Farmer continues to show his ability to rise back up when he is pushed down. 2022 was his 70th consecutive year holding a NASCAR license (another record to his name) after having acquired the accreditation in 1953.
Having come back from two stints in the hospital, Farmer will hope to continue doing what he loves the most in 2023 as well.
Not a great start to 2023 in NASCAR for Farmer
Farmer began his season with an appearance at the Ice Bowl, an event at Talladega’s short tracks. Unfortunately, the nonagenarian got in a bad wreck that left fans and family worried.
But recent updates should calm down any fears. The veteran escaped largely unhurt from the wreck and will continue on his racing journey.
