Is FOX Sports trying to sabotage NASCAR coverage after finding a new home at IndyCar? Well, the NASCAR community for the past few weeks has felt that, all thanks to Josef Newgarden and Alex Palou’s power-packed commercial. It would be fair to say that it’s been a long time since race car drivers have been shown in such a light, celebrating their personality and character. All NASCAR Cup Series drivers got was a bunch of cartoon animations last year.
Well, FOX certainly isn’t doing themselves any favors, as their latest announcement has caused quite a stir among the racing fraternity. The NASCAR broadcaster announced the play-by-play commentator for the Truck Series opener at Daytona International Speedway. Although the addition of Joey Logano along with Kevin Harvick was very well received, the same cannot be said for Jamie Little.
“NEWS: @JamieLittleTV, @KevinHarvick, and @JoeyLogano will call the action for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season-opener at @DAYTONA.@JoshRSims, @ReganSmith, and @AmandaBusick will be reporting from pit road.” NASCAR reporter Joseph Srigley shared this update on X. Alex Alexander and Jamie Little were the two play-by-play commentators last year. Meanwhile, Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip shared the duties of color commentator roles, but the dynamics seem to have changed for 2025.

Well, this isn’t the first appearance of Jamie Little in a broadcasting role. We have seen her as a pit reporter for a long time, covering Cup Series races and events. She does feature during FOX’s half of the Cup Series duties, but fans aren’t sold on her skills to call out Truck Series races from the booth. Many of them took to social media and shared their honest opinion on why FOX messed up with Jammie Little’s presence in the booth.
NASCAR fans think Jamie Little is better off as a pit reporter than a race announcer
Jamie Little has been with NASCAR since 2007, when she joined ESPN, so she’s a well-known personality in the racing community. Interestingly, she is also the first woman play-by-play announcer of a NASCAR race with her stint in 2022 with the Truck Series. But, despite her long association with the sport, fans do not think she is the right fit for the role in the FOX booth. “No disrespect to Jamie Little, but I just don’t think she’s cut out for PxP announcing. I especially hope she’s not the one who’s set to take Mike Joy’s spot on FOX whenever he retires.”
Kevin Harvick made his debut in the FOX booth alongside his friend Clint Bowyer and veteran announcer Mike Joy. Fans certainly enjoyed his interpretation of the races along with the experience he brings in. On the Xfinity Series side of things, we did see the likes of Joey Logano and Daniel Suarez feature in one-off races. So, to see Harvick and Logano kick things off for FOX’s Truck Series broadcast, fans were really excited. But at the same time, they didn’t understand the logic behind sticking with Jamie. “Why are they sticking with Jamie, she is horrible. Harvick and Logano are great at least.”

What’s your perspective on:
Is Jamie Little's role in the booth a step forward for diversity or a broadcasting misstep?
Have an interesting take?
This particular fan knew that no matter what the reaction or outrage by the community is, FOX won’t change a thing. Rather, he put his trust in Kevin Harvick in the hopes that he would lead the commentary with little input from Jamie Little. “Here’s to hoping Kevin just sort of takes over the booth and steers the commentary.”
NASCAR has built a new state-of-the-art broadcast facility in Charlotte, which is going to be used for remote coverage of the races. Remote broadcasting has somewhat become a norm for the Truck Series races as they haven’t moved their coverage back to racing venues. There are also reports that NASCAR’s partner, CW, is also looking to cover some of the Xfinity Series races remotely. This move by NASCAR’s media partners isn’t appreciated by the race fans at all, and this reaction pretty much summed it up. “Are they going to be locked in a broom closet in Charlotte again? Or is Fox going to actually spend a few bucks to send them to the track?”
Meanwhile, suggestions were pouring in on who would’ve been a better fit at the FOX booth instead of Jamie. It’s fair to say that some of them had huge expectations to see Rick Allen, Michael Waltrip, and Phil Parsons. “Omg No!!! Best case scenario would’ve been getting Rick Allen back and reuniting the old Speed booth of Rick Allen, Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip. Jamie Little is a good pit reporter but she is terrible in the booth!”
