2017 was the last season when Dale Earnhardt Jr ran a full schedule with HMS in the Cup Series. However, owing to his repeated concussion troubles, he decided to take a step back and hang up his boots from racing the premier stock car racing series. Since then, he has focused his time and energy on his podcast show, Dale Jr Download. Moreover, Junior does race a handful of races in the Xfinity Series, along with some Late Model racing events.
However, it seems like Hendrick Motorsports has lined up a big surprise for the fans. Taking to X, NASCAR’s winningest team shared a short video clip. It showcased a mystery race car driver with skeleton gloves and a red and white fire suit. The video post is captioned, “Something’s coming. Tomorrow. 9 a.m. ET. Dale Jr Download.”
This was enough evidence for the fans to start speculating about the dream comeback of Dale Jr back at HMS. Especially given that the winningest team in NASCAR is celebrating its 40-year anniversary. Moreover, with the All-Star race scheduled to be held at North Wilkesboro Speedway, it does open the door for the team to rope in Dale Earnhardt Jr for a single race event.
