It seems that the media doesn’t want NASCAR fans to forget the infamous Hendrick Motorsports rivalry between Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott. And a recent blunder by a leading sports website has given fans something more to talk about.

Kyle Larson recently announced his contract extension with the team. The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Champion signed a multi-year contract with Hendrick Motorsports and thanked the team for believing in him. In a press release, Larson said, “I can’t explain how much this opportunity means.”
Further, he said that he is glad to have such a supportive team, “The chance to compete for the top team and best sponsors in racing is something every driver dreams about. I’m humbled to have incredible people in my corner and amazing support from so many fans.”
However, while reporting the news of Larson’s extension, a leading sports website, The Score, made a real gaffe. Instead of Kyle Larson, the article reporting the news featured an image of Chase Elliott. And what’s more interesting is that it is not even a happy image of Elliott!
Social media influencer and NASCAR YouTuber Daniel Baldwin shared the screenshot of the blunder on his official Twitter handle. Along with the screenshot, Baldwin posted a satirical caption.
So is Chase Elliott mad that his teammate got an extension, or did this get the greenlight using the wrong guy? pic.twitter.com/KqJ1DXyyca

And NASCAR fans could not help but react to this blunder. Calling out the website for posting an image of the ‘wrong guy,’ some Twitter users commented on Chase Elliott’s expression in the image.

Wrong guy, cause why would Chase be mad since he’s already got a long term contract? 😂

Although the site corrected the blunder later, Baldwin definitely gave fans something fun to talk about. And the best part is that the fans will witness the two drivers racing side by side for at least the next four years.
This is because, apart from Larson, Chase Elliott also announced his contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports earlier this year.
