The Xfinity Series seats in Joe Gibbs Racing are wide open. Two of them will be full-time and one will be part-time. While the Cup Series lineup will stay the same, the team’s Xfinity Series driver lineup will see a complete revamp in 2024. A video was recently released by NASCAR, teasing a big announcement by JGR about their new team for the 2024 season.
JGR didn’t have the best of seasons in 2023. Despite having strong contenders to win the Cup and the Xfinity Series, they fell short in both the top divisions. Now, looking to move past their dismal run, the team is all set for an overhaul. However, it turns out that fans already have a clear idea about at least two of those three seats.

A recent video released by NASCAR teased Joe Gibbs Racing’s Xfinity Series future before the big reveal. Eminent journalist Kim Coon spoke about how there will be a huge shakeup in the JGR team in 2024. She mentioned that there would be a few familiar faces, which would also include a veteran racer. Unfortunately, it was a futile teaser as the comments section was brimming with speculations!

One of the drivers will be Sheldon Creed. The former Richard Childress Racing man was the center of a huge team blowup in the playoff race in Martinsville in the recently concluded season. Creed’s “antics” annoyed Childress and teammate Austin Hill, both of whom chastised the 26-year-old publicly. In his frustration, Hill revealed that his teammate would be leaving RCR for JGR.
“I cannot wait for him to get out of RCR. I can’t wait to have Jesse Love as a teammate. Maybe he’ll work better with me. Just cannot wait for him to get over Joe Gibbs Racing, and I don’t have to put up with that s**t no more,” Hill said.

The second driver coming into the team will be veteran racer Aric Almirola. The former Stewart-Haas Racing driver left the team at the end of the 2023 Cup Series season, which will perhaps be his last as a full-time racer. This time, it was Joe Gibbs who spilled the beans before the official announcement.
Along with his Cup Series driver Christopher Bell and Almirola, Gibbs attended the Washington Commanders vs. Miami NFL game earlier this month. While talking with co-owner Josh Harris of the Washington Commanders, the renowned team owner revealed the big secret, which was captured on video. “Aric’s driving for us now,” he said.

While the veteran is someone racing fans have a lot of respect for, the excitement was more around Sheldon Creed, especially after what happened in Martinsville. A fan couldn’t contain his elation as he let his keyboard type away his enthusiasm.
