It’s hard to forget the chaos that unfolded at Richmond Raceway on August 11, 2024. Austin Dillon pulled a move that had fans talking for weeks, taking out Joey Logano on the final lap to snatch the win. But it wasn’t without controversy. Dillon’s tactic of wrecking the leading car to secure victory left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. Sure, he got the Richmond win, but NASCAR wasn’t about to reward that kind of behavior—Dillon’s shot at the playoffs vanished just as quickly as he took out Logano.

Is Austin Dillon's outrage at Hemric's payback a classic case of pot calling the kettle black?

Fast forward to the Las Vegas race, and it seemed like karma came knocking. Dillon found himself on the receiving end when Daniel Hemric decided to give him a taste of his own medicine. Hemric drove his No. 31 car straight into Dillon’s No. 3, wrecking the RCR driver. When Dillon emerged from the care center, he wasn’t pleased. “He just flat-out wrecked me,” Dillon said, baffled. “No clue why.” It wasn’t for the race lead like Dillon’s move on Logano, but Hemric won a position at Dillon’s expense.

When word of the incident hit Reddit, fans couldn’t resist taking shots at Dillon, with reactions ranging from brutal to downright hilarious. The fan reactions to Austin Dillon’s Las Vegas incident were nothing short of savage, and they didn’t hold back in calling out the irony of the situation. After Dillon’s Richmond win, where he used some pretty questionable tactics to wreck Joey Logano for the victory, fans had a field day when Daniel Hemric dished out some payback.

Fan’s take on Austin Dillon’s wreck

One fan kicked things off by sarcastically dubbing him “DisgrAce,” a playful jab combining “disgrace” with Austin Dillon’s name, mocking his reputation after the Richmond fiasco. Fans are still not at peace with how Dillon wrecked Joey Logano and because of that, they are not sympathizing with the fact that he got wrecked at Las Vegas.

Another chimed in with, “Man, that car got messed up,” poking fun at just how bad Dillon’s car looked after Hemric took him out. The car caught fire and took some severe damage which led him to retire from the race, placing 37th in the race and ruining his chances for a better finish at the end of the year.

But the most biting comment came when someone pointed out the obvious irony: “Wait, Austin is against wrecking someone for position??? Weird.” Fans couldn’t help but find it amusing that Dillon was upset about getting wrecked when he had done the same thing to Logano just weeks before. The sarcasm from the fan makes it clear that the Richmond wreck will not stop haunting him anytime soon.

Then there was the humorous observation: “Back marker on back marker violence, you hate love to see it.” It was a playful way of acknowledging that neither Hemric nor Dillon was exactly dominating the race, but fans enjoyed watching the drama unfold between two drivers, not usually fighting for wins. With two cars wrecking at the back of the grid, this fan is enjoying Austin Dillon’s race end before his eyes.

And, of course, no moment like this would be complete without the classic “Just Dillon Things™️,” a sarcastic nod to Dillon’s tendency to find himself in situations like this. The fact that Austin Dillon was unhappy about getting wrecked has this fan making a joke. Being the driver who wrecked Joey Logano out of nowhere, the fan took a dig at Dillon for being surprised about getting wrecked for track position.

Fans had their fun, turning Dillon’s rough day into entertainment! But do you think that he deserves it for wrecking Joey Logano? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
