The 2022 NASCAR Cup race at the LA Coliseum is almost here, and the excitement is building. Ahead of the race weekend, former driver Jamie McMurray helped break in the track. In fact, he had a run on the tarmac and set an unofficial time of 60.4 seconds.

However, the big difference was that he was not in a car. Instead, he went around the track on his own two feet. The best part was that he did it, clad in a suit jacket, with expertly coiffed hair and carrying a microphone. Admittedly, he was aiming to break the one minute barrier, but missed it by 0.4 seconds.

Naturally, social media had a field day with the scene. Before long, several reactions and memes flooded the internet. For now atleast, the former Chip Ganassi Racing driver has bragging rights compared to his former rivals. Of course, reality will probably come crashing down on him when the cars take to the track, officially.

How did the NASCAR community react?
Several fans got a Forrest Gump vibe at the sight of McMurray legging it on the track. However, it is worth mentioning that not many were surprised, because the driver often participates in marathons. Nevertheless, they were all quite impressed that he was able to run while wearing a suit and tie.

According to one reaction, “People who haven’t watched NASCAR in a few years will hear that Jamie ran a 60 second lap at California and not think twice.“ Another fan recalled an incident where he ran away from fans who wanted to meet him at Bristol a few years ago.
