It has been a pretty tough week for the Stewart-Haas Racing team. Last weekend at the Charlotte Roval, they got into trouble for alleged team orders. This was because Cole Custer inexplicably brake-checked several drivers and teammate Chase Briscoe made up two spots. Now, disaster has befallen the SHR Xfinity Racing team, as the #98 hauler carrying Riley Herbst’s car, crashed.

The good news was that the crash was not particularly serious and the hauler drivers were okay. However, one of them did have to visit the local hospital for safety precautions. Hauler accidents do happen very often in transit, largely because they have to travel long distances and anything can happen along the way.

How will this accident affect Stewart-Haas Racing?

In situations like these, the team have to pray that the cars or the equipment are not damaged, or damaged too badly. Otherwise, repairing everything will be a massive headache and will be a setback in setting up the car for the drivers. To be precise, the teams would lose valuable time that could have been spent gathering data on track

No one could deny though, that SHR has been enduring a trying week, especially in the Cup Series. Custer got slapped with a massive penalty for his role in the controversial scenes at the Charlotte Roval. Earlier, Kevin Harvick got eliminated from Playoff contention, which was a bit of a downer. At least Briscoe is still in the running, and he managed to escape scrutiny for Custer’s penalty.

Now, Briscoe will have to regroup and try to hopefully sneak into Championship 4. Truthfully speaking, it will be a tall ask, since many of his surviving rivals are pretty strong. However, the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season has been incredibly unpredictable. Notable shock exits included Kyle Busch and defending champion Kyle Larson.
