It is looking more and more apparent that NASCAR will host a street race in Chicago. However, there is a need to drop one race to make way for it on the calendar. Now, reports have emerged that Road America could be swapped out for Chicago. If that is the case, then Tyler Reddick will be the last Cup winner at Road America until it returns to the calendar.

In light of this, a number of NASCAR fans reacted to the news of Road America’s possible exit. It is safe to say that the response was pretty mixed, with some agreeing with Road America’s exit and others not liking it. According to the ones wanting the track’s departure, it hasn’t worked well with the Next Gen cars.
@NASCAR Jesus, they're really going to put this on 4th of July weekend in Chicago, aren't they?
This sounds like a clusterf*ck of tremendous proportions and no I'm not annoyed they had a chance to put the #CokeZero400 back on that date and predictably blew it why do you ask

Road America was bleh. People gonna be mad they’re replacing a Road course and a road course?
— sportsguy070 (@CjNascar6767) July 19, 2022
Unlike most people, I'm fine with that. Road America doesn't work with next gens
— FireLynx (@FireLynx7) July 19, 2022
Why Road America? I know the racing hasn't been fanstaitc. But, the track had great crowds!

Got it nascar let’s go to a city where no one cares about the sport, smart

However, others acknowledged that while the racing has been mediocre, the attendance was still great.
My issue with it is that race has the biggest fan turn out of the season consistently and they’re going to get rid of it?

This is not even a one-off, but spectators have almost always turned up in great numbers every year. A few were not happy about the prospect of a Chicago street race either, as their biggest complaint is that the track will be flat and boring.

What else did NASCAR fans say about the Road America rumor?
The fans that want Road America to stay insisted that there were other races that deserved to go. One example is Kansas, which has two races, and one could be dropped to accommodate the Chicago race. Others felt that one of the Texas races deserved to go, and the most sensible candidate for them would be the speedway.
Why sacrifice Road America when Kansas and Darlington have two dates (when they only need one)?

boooooooooooo
should've removed 1 of the Texas races instead

A few other fans wondered whether it was right to go to a venue where people were not interested.
Because outright ignoring places like that is a great strategy for the continued growth of the sport, right?

Unfortunately for critics and Road America fans, it looks like this plan is going ahead. This is actually a pretty interesting experiment, and no one knows how it will turn out until the cars hit the streets next year.
