The aura and hype around a motorsports event are perhaps just as important as the event itself. Think about the Daytona 500 for a minute. Yes, back in the day, several exceptional races and the moniker of ‘The Great American Race’ made it what it is today. At present, the event is considered to be the biggest NASCAR race on the calendar and a fan favorite. One of the many elements that create a certain hype is the track’s logo and of late, NASCAR fans have been worried about the Daytona International Speedway undergoing a logo change.
The value of a logo in NASCAR is perhaps undervalued. Yeah, at the end of the day, all that matters is the racing, but an iconic logo will always give a completely different feel to a track or a racing event. For example, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has seen several underwhelming NASCAR races but its logo is legendary and fans have always appreciated that part.

NASCAR recently changed some of the track’s logos ahead of the 2024 Cup Series season and fans were not happy about it. One of the tracks that saw a change was the Kansas Speedway. The 2024 Kansas Speedway Official 1:64 Program Diecast was released recently, featuring the new logo, and to be fair, it is quite underwhelming.
On the hood of the diecast, the name of the track is written in yellow font over what seems like an illustration of the sun rising in front of the American flag. It may not be a complete disaster but it sure is underwhelming considering what the Kansas Speedway used to have as its logo.
Another track that has suffered the same fate is the Talladega Superspeedway. A fan on Reddit shared the images of the diecast for the GEICO 500. In the end, fans were left thoroughly disappointed, but there was a feeling of concern as well.
Poor logos often ruin the mood around an event no matter how big or iconic it may be, and that includes the Daytona 500. NASCAR fans were not entirely happy with how Talladega or Kansas emblem turned out and with the new season just a few weeks away, they are concerned about the future of the Daytona International Speedway’s fate regarding the same.

NASCAR fans are known to be among the most vocal in American sports and they certainly let their opinions be known about the new logos on Reddit. After seeing the new logo for the Kansas Speedway, one fan commented, “Yuck. The previous logo was so iconic.”
It started off a thread of comments where concerns over the logo of the Daytona International Speedway were raised. “Please don’t ruin Daytona’s logo, please don’t ruin Daytona’s logo,” one user replied. Another user invoked the late great Dale Earnhardt Sr as they replied to the Daytona comment, “For the love of Dale please don’t change your logo!!!”
Users also expressed their general dissatisfaction with the new Kansas Speedway logo. One user commented, “Oh that sucks. It looks like the text on the state flag.”

“The new logos look bland and corporate memphis-y,” quipped another.
It was in the comments section that an image of the Talladega diecast was shared and even that met with some criticism. “Talladega also looks like they got a new logo,” wrote the person who shared the images.
“Oh that also sucks. As if Dega’s logo needed fixing,” the reply came.
