Earlier during the NASCAR Xfinity race at the Daytona International Speedway, there were many wrecks. The first of those was an incident involving Drew Dollar and Jeremy Clements. As it turned out, Dollar lost control of his #18 car and veered into the outside wall. Unfortunately, the #51 car of Clements happened to be in his trajectory and they collided.

Naturally, Clements was absolutely furious with Dollar for crashing him out. He fumed on Twitter and declared that such things happen when drivers buy NASCAR rides. In other words, he pretty much tried to imply that Dollar paid money for his seat and did not deserve it on merit.

Evidently, several fans agreed with him and called out Joe Gibbs Racing for it. In essence, Drew Dollar took over the seat that reigning Xfinity Series champion Daniel Hemric vacated. Instead, he has jumped ship to Kaulig Racing, taking over the #11 car from Justin Haley who is in the Cup Series.

What else did the fans say about the Jeremy Clements incident?

Suffice to say, many were mad about the incident. Some even blamed Joe Gibbs Racing for fast-tracking such drivers into the racing arena. One response said, “See, I don’t disagree with this, but there is also a trend of JGR rushing drivers to Cup. I say it’s 50% that, 50% on his last name being “Dollar”.

In the end, both drivers were classified 36th and 37th, and out of the race. For Jeremy Clements, this result was particularly disappointing because he was hoping to improve his standing this season. Last year and in 2017, he had a career-best Xfinity Series championship finish of 12th. Now, he is aiming to try and breach the Top 10, but Dollar’s interference has got him off to a bad start. On the bright side, the season has only just begun, and it will offer plenty of chances for redemption.
