Earlier, the NY Racing team recruited veteran NASCAR driver Greg Biffle to race for them. The 52-year-old will pilot the #44 car and attempt to qualify for the Daytona 500 this weekend. It is also worth noting that the outfit is partnering with Grambling State University as a title sponsor.

The Chevrolet-powered team also unveiled a striking yellow and black livery for the race weekend. One can liken it to tiger stripes, and it actually does look good. However, there were a lot of mixed reactions about the news. Make no mistake, many were thrilled to see Biffle return to action. It was the GSU title sponsorship that was mostly questioned, especially in relation to the student loans that university students take in order to pay the hefty tuition fees.

One of the users angry about the sponsorship said, “Again, if my tuition money went towards sponsoring a racecar I would be p*ssed.” Meanwhile, others mocked the team because they know that it will most likely languish at the back of the pack. Some other found it ironic that GSU is not located in NY.

What else did the fans say about the new NASCAR team?

Another response said, “People so mad their tuition money went to marketing. Wait till you hear where all those “free” shirts go to. Or your sport fee goes to a new uniform every game. The money to send you professor to summits comes from tuition. Your money already goes to stupid things.”

Some fans mocked the team and predicted that the outfit would find it difficult to qualify. According to them, NY Racing’s chance of making it to the Daytona 500 is if there is a shortage of cars on the grid. There were also a few people who found it strange to possibly see Greg Biffle drive a Chevrolet; this is because he mostly raced for Ford.

Ending on a positive note, a few fans did like the black and yellow paint scheme. Some thought it looked ‘cool’, and it will definitely up the excitement for the Daytona 500 this weekend. So far, Biffle is only confirmed for the Daytona race, but there is a chance that he will race in other events as well.
