When we talk about some of the greatest NASCAR x Hollywood crossovers, no conversation is complete without the mention of Days of Thunder. Essentially the ‘Top Gun’ of motorsports, Tom Cruise’s 1990 film quickly became a cult classic with his character, Cole Trickle, becoming somewhat of a fictional icon himself. That said, the Chevrolet stock car driven by Cruise’s character in the movie is as equally impressive.

The #46 car movie car sponsored by Rick Hendrick’s beloved Chevy dealership was a win with fans owing to its bright green and yellow paint scheme. Though the community might have to wait a little longer for any updates on a Days of Thunder sequel, Alpha Prime Racing provided the NASCAR community with a delightful sight on X.

When Days of Thunder came out in 1990, stock car racing fans flocked to the theaters across America to get a glimpse of Tom Cruise as Cole Trickle. This ultimately gave rise to the common request for a sequel. Only recently, Adam Stern also revealed that NASCAR was open to helping out with the production of a Days of Thunder sequel, but Steve O’Donnell did not confirm if a deal had been made.

Though the dreams of a sequel haven’t been fulfilled yet, a few throwbacks throughout the years have definitely helped the fans reminisce about the days of Cole Trickle’s dominance at Darlington Raceway. Fortunately, the 2024 season appears to be another opportunity for a ‘Days of Thunder’ comeback. Alpha Prime Racing added another delightful throwback to the mix with their nod to Tom Cruise’s 1990 NASCAR classic.

The Xfinity team’s official account on X tweeted, “Thunder Strikes ⚡ @ryanellisracing and @classicollision will throwback to Cole Trickle at @TooToughToTame!” Before one could even finish reading the caption, the eyes were immediately met with the bright and vibrant #43 livery with the iconic silver Chevy Classic logo on the rear panel.

The Camaro was looking better than ever, as many fans chimed in to share their opinion on Ryan Ellis’ ride for the 2024 Cookout Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
