Last year, a confluence of NASCAR and Hollywood was reached as a prime actor hit the race tracks. ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ star Frankie Muniz entered the ARCA Menards Series and made some jaws drop. After posting some impressive finishes, he upgraded to the Xfinity Series this year, bound for starry heights. Muniz finished in the rear end in the two races at Daytona and Phoenix. However, the 38-year-old actor is prepared for another sincere effort. And his opportunity is coming up as soon as next week.
Frankie Muniz is scheduled for the next Xfinity run
Last year, Muniz proved his mettle behind the wheel. His best ARCA finish came at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, securing 6th place. Debuting in the No. 35 Ford for Joey Gase Racing at Daytona International Speedway, Frankie Muniz executed a good beginner’s run. But he got entangled in a crash and had to retire after 37 laps with a 33rd-place finish. “Before I knew it, I just saw a bunch of smoke,” he said. Muniz improved his pace at Phoenix, where the Hollywood star finished 30th. He took an absence of a couple of months after that, working on his weaknesses.
The actor-turned-racer is all set for another attempt in one of NASCAR’s premier racing series. Recently, Frankie Muniz updated on X, “Time to be a racecar driver again. I wanna go fast! Excited to be back in the @XfinityRacing car next week at Portland! @FordPerformance colors looking sharp!”

This time around, Frankie Muniz is strapping up for the Pacific Office Automation 147 at Portland International Speedway, a 1.967-mile road course. He will once again pilot the No. 35 under team owner Joey Gase. Currently, the team sits 35th in NASCAR Xfinity Series Owner Points, the third lowest of the full-time entries this year. So Frankie Muniz will have his hands full to propel the car to the front row.
But it looks like Agent Cody Banks’ fans are confident in his racing ambitions. Hearing about his novel pursuit, the NASCAR community poured out their love.
