Joe Gibbs Racing driver Christopher Bell might have sparked a new rivalry for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. The JGR driver, in his desperate attempts to get back into contention for winning the race at COTA, bumped Kyle Busch’s No. 8 car in the 40th lap of the race. The move did allow Bell to enter the top five positions and mount his charge for the win, but Busch spun around, thus losing his track position.
For all his efforts and aggressive style of racing, Bell could only manage a runner-up finish behind William Byron. However, his action sparked an angry reaction from Rowdy, who showed the shades of his old self in confronting Bell.

If anyone has seen the former JGR driver in action in his prime year, they would know that he has earned his nickname “Rowdy” for a reason. In 2008, he got into a scuffle with Carl Edwards that resulted in him getting probation for six weeks by NASCAR.
When Kevin Harvick confronted him, he was back with his post-race shenanigans in 2011. But Busch was not in the mood for dialogue and sent Harvick’s car into the pit wall. Luckily, Harvick was not in the vehicle. The tempers were flying high that day, and they surely pushed the boundaries of post-race confrontation.
However, since then, the RCR No. 8 driver has toned down his antics, but he just couldn’t help himself after the on-track incident with Bell. Rowdy was in the face of his former teammate after they took the checkered flag at COTA. Busch was heard saying, “Have I wrecked you?” To which Bell replied, “No.” Then, firing the warning shots, Busch alerted him, saying, “Okay, it’s fu*king coming”.

One ardent Busch fan was glad that he was finally seeing his favorite driver return to his former self. “It’s about time the old Kyle Busch made a comeback”.
Impressed by how relatively well-mannered Busch was in conveying his frustration, another fan wrote, “This is the first time I’ve seen Bush in the right here and I like it. Glad to see he has matured, and he knows when he’s in the right or when he’s in the wrong. And today he was in the right”.
Taking a hilarious jibe at the JGR driver, a user chimed in, saying, “CBell looks like he got caught sneaking in after curfew and is getting yelled at by his daddy!”

Another fan suggested that, given that he drives for RCR now, this type of reaction by Busch was a one-off incident. “It’s nice seeing the old Rowdy back to how he was, and the question is how long will @RCRracing let him be him and not this polite Rowdy, cause that’s not him”.
