For about a year now, NASCAR fans have been waiting on the storyline of Dodge re-entering the sport to push beyond just talks. Well, as it turns out, it has moved beyond that point.
But unfortunately, the news isn’t good.
According to Sports Business Journal, Dodge’s comeback narrative has hit a wall, even though there were rumors of their engines and chassis landing at Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing, the talks have stalled as of now.

Naturally, this led to a very diverse set of reactions from the fans, with one mentioning the now clearly extinct possibility of a Kyle Busch-Dodge team-up while some simply called out NASCAR for their image as a potential investing ground.
When Kyle Busch was on the market I wondered if a team might want to sign him and partner up with dodge for the near future, would be a major coup to have a still good two time champ to front your re entry to the series

Why would they want too? Next Gen car is terrible, racing is average and it’s still dominated by the powerhouse teams. @NASCAR is yet to evolve and has fallen further behind as a sport that’s appealing to true motorsports fans.

FIAT still owns Dodge, and they also own Ferrari. They spent all their lunch money on F1, and can't afford NASCAR.

It’s one more concern for the future of NASCAR when arguably the manufacturer who focuses on over the top performance does not want to be part of the sport.

Brad Keselowski sent Dodge out on top of NASCAR a decade ago
Way before Brad Keselowski won the title for Dodge in their farewell race at Homestead, the decision to pull the plug on their NASCAR program was already made by the iconic American automobile giant.
This was something that Ralph Gilles, the head of Dodge’s NASCAR program, also mentioned in an interview from back then.
“It’s weird, it’s bittersweet, it’s exciting, it’s amazing,” he said. “I’m literally conflicted. It wasn’t about winning or losing, whether we’d stay in or not. Those decisions were made many months ago for other reasons. But this is the best thing that can happen.”

Gilles had then said that considering their “good footprint” in motorsports, they’d be keeping a good eye on the Cup Series for a possible return in the future. This was more or less a decade ago.
And now it seems Dodge has finally let go of its plan for a comeback.
