Are NASCAR fans too harsh on Bubba Wallace despite his undeniable talent and determination?

It is a fine weekend for 23XI Racing, where one of their drivers is in contention for the championship while the other will start the race at the pole. Bubba Wallace has got his hands on a real chance to get to the NASCAR Playoffs, and the points won’t matter anymore if he manages to win in Darlington tomorrow. But the fans are not supporting this rising star’s bid at the victory lane.

The team’s last year’s struggles are well known to the fans and they expect something similar for this year as well. But the chances are still bright for the #23 driver to field the top-16. He is prepared to give it his best shot as he said, “I strive for it” after the pole win.

Can Wallace get the Darlington win?

Bubba Wallace has shown consistent improvement in his performance ever since his team made a debut in the Cup Series. His career as a whole has also been on an upward trajectory from the time he debuted in NCS, back in 2017. And despite not winning a single race last year, he still made it to the Playoffs and finished the season with a 10th rank.

The battle for the Playoffs has been raging for two months now as the bubble drivers try to make every dig at a win. The skilled driver sure didn’t want to be stuck in this position for a consecutive year. But as he said earlier, Daytona last year was better going in with the stress. He wanted a better strategy for Darlington, and now he has one.

Have an interesting take?

NASCAR congratulated his ‘big lap’ achievement ahead of Sunday’s Cook Out Southern 500. All he needs now is to overcome the pressure and persist in the finale. He has the potential, as he has been getting top-5s and top-10s every year. But now, it is really about going a step further and reaching that championship 4.

Last year at Darlington, his pit crew made a blunder when a loose lug nut forced him out of the top-5 finish. But there is no scope for such an error this year. While the team was having some coordination troubles last year, it seems in better shape now. Nonetheless, Wallace said then that there were no excuses for such blunders and hoped for an in-house pit crew. So, fans think that it is not going to be any different this year as the team still has a pit crew contracted by Joe Gibbs Racing.

How are the fans reacting to Bubba Wallace’s pole qualifier?

NASCAR fans seem to really dislike Bubba Wallace‘s approach after a series of complaints from the driver, doubting if he has it in him to beat the odds and just finish first. They see other drivers doing that all the time, but Wallace’s misfortunes take the better of him, they believe.

On the same note, one user commented, “I can’t wait till he messes it up somehow then complains.” Another one just plainly blurted out, “It doesn`t matter, he won`t win.” Others went on even uglier tangents when they wrote, “So when he doesn’t win will Darlington be a rac-st track?”

A driver’s racecraft is usually visible despite their failures. There can be unfortunate events, but it also takes courage to turn it into something worth praising. And so, fans opine that the 31-year-old driver needs to do better as one user wrote, “He Won’t do any good tomorrow night. He’ll wreck out 🤣.”

One user also threw a wrench with his words by poking the Denny Hamlin wound. “Better reinspect that car 😂😂. I bet that’s the motor out of dennys car ! 😂,” wrote the user. Somehow, it is just hard for the NASCAR fans to believe that he can go drive a race without the tantrums, and they’re growing weary of it.

Leaving the negativities aside, this truly is a big feat for Bubba and he is finally where he needs to be. From here, making his way into the playoffs would definitely seem a bit easier. What do you think?
