Denny Hamlin has had an issue with Ross Chastain for a while. Ever since the race at the World Wide Technology Raceway, Hamlin has been quite sour towards Chastain. But the 23XI Racing co-owner put his foot down at the New Hampshire Raceway, literally.
Hamlin finally got his payback!
Denny battled the Watermelon Man for a few laps until he couldn’t take it anymore. And, luckily, the #11 found grip on the bottom lane and took the opportunity to give Ross Chastain a taste of his medicine.

Denny had the required pace. He hit the throttle to bump Ross‘ rear bumper just enough to make him lose a little grip and overtake him. Finally, the team owner got the payback he’s wanted for so long. And the fans were just as thrilled as Hamlin. Here are some comments the fans left under NASCAR’s YouTube video.
TylerR_41 – “The fans LOVE racing like this. More of this, less Nancyboy situations please”
Micah Kinton – “Most entertaining sub plot of the season!!”
Chris Carter – “…. don’t think for one minute that the payback isn’t still to come. Denny waits for a bigger stage, like a playoff win.”
29North – “The rivalry we need”
However, there were plenty of Ross Chastain fans, too.
allmyfavs28 – “I think Ross did a heck of a job, gave up the position and took the bump without wrecking anyone… He must have heard Dale Jr’s podcast “Be Ross but clean it up a little”
Vickie May – “Love Ross. Would love to see him win a championship. I absolutely cannot stand Denny Hamlin”

After making contact with Elliott, Ross ended up racing the #11 harshly, bumping into him multiple times.
After the race, Hamlin said, “There are no warnings. It seems like there’s no sense of caution there that says, maybe I’m going too aggressive.”
“That’s his decision to make, but, ultimately, this sport is self-policing. Usually when you least expect it and when it means the most is when it comes back around.”
