Home/NASCAR

After spending more than a decade in NASCAR, it must be awful for a driver to lose a seat for the next season. Even more so if there is not much that the driver could do about it. This is exactly what happened to one of the most seasoned drivers on the Xfinity Series circuit.

Recently, it was announced that Landon Cassill was left with nowhere to go for the 2023 season. It turned out that due to certain problems—which he addressed over his social media—the Xfinity Series driver would no longer be racing for Kaulig Racing.

On the 18th of this month, Cassill shared a two-part tweet, saying, Unfortunately, I won’t be driving the 10 car full time this year. However, my quest to win in NASCAR continues. Sponsorships drive my business, and my sponsors over the last two years have been through a lot. Rebuilding will be my top priority.

Following his departure announcement, his fans and several drivers reacted with empathy. They also sent uplifting messages to the driver and hoped that he would get back to the sport as soon as possible.

Over the past decade, Cassill has seen a lot of ups and downs in his career. Even after this setback, there is hope that he would be able to jump back and find himself back in a race car next year.

As things stand at the moment, Cassill would not be racing in the 2023 Xfinity Series. However, he would try his best to move forward. He will now have the opportunity to race in other series as well. Maybe during this time, as he resets himself, other sponsorship opportunities might open up for the seasoned driver.

As NASCAR president Steve Phelps once said, “The team model is very dependent on sponsorship.” At the end of the day, a driver needs some form of backing to get back into racing full-time. We hope that Cassill is able to climb back out of this slump very soon.
