We were starting to wonder if the return of “The Clash” at Bowman Gray Stadium is feeling as grand as it should be. Come on, it’s the first Cup race there since 1971—that is a long damn time. NASCAR, answering our prayers, has made a documentary about it as a curtain-raiser for the event. It’s called “The Madhouse: NASCAR’s Return to Bowman Gray Stadium.”

Not much is known about the documentary yet. But what we could gather from NASCAR and FOX Sports’s synopsis is that the documentary will dwell on the rich and rollicking history of the venue. While weaving a narrative that focuses on preparations for The Clash at Bowman Gray.” Basically, it will be about why BGS is so historic and iconic! Maybe, they try to answer the most frequently asked question…”Why is it called ‘The Madhouse’?”

The documentary will also feature several interviews with NASCAR veterans, including Chocolate Myers, Burt Meyers, and Tim Brown. The list is long. But the one we are most interested in hearing from is Leonard Wood. The NASCAR genius, the man behind the legendary Wood Brothers Racing team. The legend is 90 now, it would be nice to see him reminisce about ‘The Madhouse’ in its heyday.

And we hope all of them share some juicy titbits and untold stories about BGS. Well, the trailer is out, and it surely is captivating. We are optimistic that the full film will be just as good. Regardless, it’s a great move to get all the fans glued to their screens to their screens on the 3rd of Feb (The Clash). The documentary will be released just a few days before on January 27th at 7 p.m. ET on FS1. And a couple of days after this one, we’ll get to watch the second one.

“So Damn Close: Atlanta ’24”

This should be a good one too. It’s called “So Damn Close: Atlanta ’24.” Yeah. The name is a bit confusing. So let us give you a refresher: It was the 2024 Ambetter Health 400. Ryan Blaney led the final lap. But as we approached the checkered flag. It was Blaney, Kyle Busch, and Daniel Suarez in a 3-wide finish. And unexpectedly, Daniel Suarez took the checkered flag. Blaney was only 0.003 seconds behind in P2 and Busch was 0.007 seconds behind Suarez in P3. It was a movie in itself. Sadly, we don’t yet have the trailer for this one. But here’s the clip of that epic moment.

This documentary is about that race and that thrilling finish. It’s got interviews from all three revisiting the moment. Some untold stories from that day and much more. And we agree with Trackhouse Racing owner Justin Marks when he said, “I think from an entertainment value standpoint, I don’t know what more you could want from a race like tonight (the Atlanta one). It was incredible. My heart rate was 150 (beats per minute) just watching. All race long, I talked to my wife about this; the calmest people here are the guys driving the cars because we’re all just watching this, just holding our breath. This is one of the most compelling races I think that you could want for a sport. It was an incredible thing to watch.”

And this one will be released on Feb 13 at 10 p.m. ET on FS1. Just a day before the duel. Also, Fox is claiming it to be a never-seen-before type of content. Barry Nugent, vice president at FOX Sports said, From the historic return to Bowman Gray to the unforgettable moments of last year’s race in Atlanta, these films not only showcase the electrifying action behind the world of motorsports but provide unprecedented access into the stories that bring this sport to life.” Let’s hope the films live up to this claim.
