Tony Stewart has officially made it to NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers list. And it’s time to honor the three-time Cup champion for the skill and determination with which he has raced and the glory he has brought to the tracks. But what happens when a homage to a driver’s greatness turns into a target for jokes?

Chase Briscoe will be celebrating Tony Stewart’s inclusion by driving his #14 adorned with a Stewart-themed caricature in the upcoming race at Talladega. A fan of Stewart, Briscoe is living his childhood dream by driving for Smoke’s team, Stewart-Haas Racing. Moreover, after getting promoted to Cup Series, Briscoe replaced Clint Bowyer in the #14 Ford Mustang.

The Talladega race will mark Stewart‘s final gig in the broadcast booth with FOX this season. This means Briscoe’s favorite driver and boss would be watching him and his #14 up close from the booth.

Can the new Tony Stewart paint scheme help Chase Briscoe?

The 2023 season hasn’t been exactly kind to Chase Briscoe. Unable to clinch a victory, Briscoe is currently standing at the 15th position on the Cup Series points table with an average finish of 16.8. However, he has registered three top-10s and two top-5s in the season so far.

Even though Talladega is a long shot, considering the Indiana-born driver’s performance during the last two races, it is possible that the team might finally see a win. In the Food City Dirt Race at the Bristol Motor Speedway, Briscoe finished 5th after starting from the 14th position.

Moreover, in the NOCO 400 race at the Martinsville Speedway, the #14 Ford driver again finished fifth after starting from the fourth position. Hence, with his consistent ability to make it to the top five, there are chances that Briscoe might be able to finally seal a victory in his newly painted Stewart-themed charter.
