Eli Gold Shares the Happy News After He Emerges Victorious From the Biggest Battle of His Life
Gold has been associated with NASCAR for more than three decades. He made his broadcasting debut back in 1976 at the World 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway with Motor Racing Network.
He has also hosted the syndicated radio program ‘NASCAR Live’ on a weekly basis with Sirius XM. Gold’s deep baritone voice with a tinge of southern drawl has been an absolute fan favorite across the country. He was also a part of the TNNs coverage of the Cup Series as a lead commentator.
Apart from being the lead voice in the world of motor racing, this veteran announcer has also lent his voice to play-by-play for the University of Alabama’s football and basketball teams. He has also been awarded two times as the Alabama Sportscaster of the Year by the Associated Press.
However, this brave soul was diagnosed with cancer, which was treatable in nature back in January, and he surely emerged as the champion that he is. His friend Tony Stripe even spread the happy news on Twitter, after the warrior rang the bell on the completion of the treatment.
Gold even revealed the good news, “I don’t mind telling you we were bags of nerves, all of us. My wife, my daughter. And the doctor walked in, and it was a female, and she said, ‘You’re free and clear. There’s no cancer to be found anywhere.”
As per the reports, he also talked about the adversities. Unfortunately, he temporarily lost his ability to walk, so he had to relearn how to walk. Alongside this, he had also lost a considerable amount of weight, 150 pounds, to be exact.
