Helio Castroneves is perhaps the best example of the phrase, ‘age is just a number.’ The 46-year-old won the Rolex 24 hours of Daytona in 2021, then equaled the record for most Indianapolis 500 wins in May with his fourth win. And now, a year later, he has won yet another Rolex Daytona watch.
Castroneves is the winner of the 2022 edition of the Rolex 24 hours of Daytona driving the No.60 Acura with Meyer Shank Racing.
And deservedly, he earned praises and applause from all over the motorsports and NASCAR community on his third major race win in a year. Seven-time NASCAR Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, who was also in the running at Daytona speedway, showed his class by congratulating the Brazilian.

Could Helio Castroneves run in the Daytona 500?
The Brazilian, when quizzed about a possible late entry into the Daytona 500 next month, admitted he would “love to” do so. Moreover, Castroneves even revealed that he tried entering the Daytona 500 in 2021 as well.
“I spoke with (Ray) Evernham and Tony Stewart, said, ‘Hey, find me a car and I’ll jump in! I’m sure a lot of people would like to see me.’ Who knows what’s going to happen? And they talked about it, but nothing, didn’t get traction,” he said. “But I love to race. This is me. It’s been my entire life. And I admire respect. I know it’s not easy. I understand everyone has your specialty.”

“And that’s why, when I moved to IMSA, I believed I started getting better because you start exploring more of your racecraft,” Castroneves continued. “And today the big win was because of that. I knew my competitors. I knew what I needed to do, and I did.”
It has to be admitted that should he find a way to land a seat at the great American race, Helio Castroneves will surely be a favorite for the win. And regardless, he will have his eyes on the fifth Indy 500 win later this year.
