“Please pray for Carla” was what Mike Wallace had posted on Facebook just two days ago when he revealed to the world that his beloved wife has been battling cancer. However, three weeks into 2024, the Wallace family had to bear with the news that Carla Wallace was no more. The couple had been together for about half a century.
Carla, who had always been a salient presence in the family and a solid backbone for the former driver, lost her battle with ovarian cancer after four years.

Mike Wallace made an emotional post on Facebook a couple of days ago about his wife’s battle with ovarian cancer and sought prayers and support from his fans. The racing community rallied to lend their support and let the NASCAR driver know they stood with him. However, only 48 hours later, he took to Facebook again. But this time, it was to let everyone know that their prayers were no longer needed and that Carla had already moved on to a better place. He noted, “I am devastated by beautiful wife Carla passed away at 5:44 today from a four-year battle against Ovarian Cancer and yes Cancer sucks.”
Battling the life-threatening disease privately, Carla had always been a strong advocate of keeping her ordeal to herself. She did not want the news of her struggles to go out of the family. But when she was in the hospital, critically ill, the veteran couldn’t hold back his emotions as he spread the word about his wife’s illness.
After tying the knot to each other during their late teens, the couple shared a beautiful journey of 44 years. Carla Wallace had been a pillar for Mike during his racing career. A great example of this was in 2011 when Mike Wallace decided to race at Talladega.
In 2011, they put their 32nd wedding anniversary celebration on hold as Mike decided to race at Talladega Superspeedway. Carla understood the significance of the event to her husband and supported the decision. Eventually, Mike won the race making their sacrifice worthwhile and underlining their strong bond.
The sudden passing sent the NASCAR community into solemn remembrance, as many took to social media to pay their respects, including Wallace’s former team JD Motorsports.
