Mamba Smith, who is extremely natural at spreading cheer, finds it a breeze to keep everyone around him in high spirits. Need proof? Just look at his recent banter with Bubba Wallace and his followers. After a playful jab from Bubba about Mamba not sporting a fade, Mamba threw down the gauntlet at him. Bubba, not one to back down, eagerly accepted.

The whole thing started with Bubba resharing a clip from Crazy Clips. It showed someone at LAX with an impressively high top fade with a caption: “Dude spotted at LAX with an unbelievable high top fade.” Jumping on the opportunity to poke fun at Mamba, Bubba captioned it, “You won’t @MambaSmith34.” The playful banter that followed had one of them throw down a challenge that even got social media users involved.

Mamba, the life of the party even from afar, keeps his title as NASCAR’s unofficial Chief Hype Officer alive and kicking. The fun began when Bubba poked fun at Mamba for not having a fade as cool as one spotted on a guy, likely of African-American descent. Mamba’s comeback? A mix of a lighthearted excuse and a bold challenge. He dared Bubba to rack up 1000 retweets on his post, promising to revive his old hairstyle for NASCAR media day if successful. Mamba’s cheeky condition was, “Man… It’s been like 10 years since I had that… You get 1000 RTs on this post I’m replying to by the time we leave Nashville & I’ll bring it back for @NASCAR media day. And then after Steak 48 on you.”

Bubba, always up for a challenge, rallied his fans with a confident, “1000?! Haaaaaaaaa. Deal. Y’all know what to do.”

And what’s more? The tweet has racked up almost 300 retweets within just hours of being posted. Looks like fans might get to see Smith sport that top fade Bubba Wallace has been crazy about!

Mamba’s magnetic personality is a big reason he’s a hit in the motorsports world. His ability to make friends everywhere he goes played a part in his debut in the ARCA Menards Series at the Reese’s 200 in July 2022 at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

And who was cheering him on for this dream race? None other than AJ Allmendinger. But this wasn’t the first time Mamba’s racing pursuits got a boost from his friends. A few years back, he raced a late model in the Snowflake 100 at Florida’s Five Flags Speedway, partly thanks to support from pals like Bubba Wallace and Ryan Blaney.

Mamba Smith’s journey in racing kicked off at the tender age of 4, all thanks to his dad buying him a go-kart out of love for their local Thunder Road International SpeedBowl. Together, they chalked up around 100 go-kart victories, fueling Smith’s passion for racing. Later, he shifted gears to the Allison Legacy Race Series North in 2006, clinching the championship two years later in 2008.

But despite his impressive track record, Smith doesn’t see himself as a dedicated racer. He enjoys getting behind the wheel for some real action at least once a year, but it’s not all about taking home the trophy for him. Last year at IRP, for instance, his eyes weren’t set on the winner’s circle. He was keener on soaking up the fun of the race and, hopefully, sharing a cold one with his buddies afterward, with his car still in one piece.

As per arcaracing.com, he said, “I’m not trying to go Cup racing; that’s not what I expect to come from this. I want to enjoy the experience. I’m definitely looking forward to cracking open some beers with the guys after the race and just sitting on pit road for a minute and enjoying that.”

On top of that, last year saw Smith back in the driver’s seat at Florence Motor Speedway’s South Carolina 400. Teaming up with Dodge Mopar Motorsports, he took the wheel of a Late Model Stock Car for Lee Faulk Racing in this celebrated end-of-season showdown. However, this year in 2023, there’s no such news of Mamba Smith having participated in any of the races.
