NASCAR Announces Major Changes for the Daytona Race

NASCAR’s August race at the Daytona International Speedway road course will highlight a huge change to the typical format. On Thursday, track president Chip Wile reported NASCAR’s races at the DIS road course will incorporate a chicane after turn four.

NASCAR reports, “I think, more than anything, it’s going to add even more excitement for the fans than we were already expecting,” Daytona International Speedway President Chip Wile said.

John Probst, Senior Vice President of Racing Innovation says: “Due to the predicted high speeds and loads on the braking system, NASCAR will add a chicane off oval Turn 4 at Daytona and move to a high downforce 750 hp aero/engine package for the NASCAR Cup Series race on Aug. 16.

“We believe this will combine vehicle performance and safety to provide the best possible road course race for our fans.”

NASCAR’s main three arrangements will be hustling on the Daytona road course for the very 1st time this August. Also, the track is going to appear to be somewhat unique than it does when the vehicles race the Rolex 24 each January at the same track.

Chicane will add more excitement in a NASCAR race

There will be an additional chicane after the exit of the track’s Turn 4. The chicane includes a left-hand turn. It is then followed by a tough right-hand turn before a left, moving back onto the tri-oval.

This is intended to bring down the pace of the race cars and trucks entering the primary turn of the street course at the exit of the pit lane.

Some of the Cup Series drivers have the understanding of the road course on account of the Rolex 24. This includes Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson. Apart from the three NASCAR series, the Daytona track will also host the ARCA Menards Series race.

This chicane, which is about 470-feet from the entry till exit, may be utilized in very constrained circumstances. The 2021 Busch Clash will take place on the track in this arrangement.
