NASCAR venues are slowly but steadily opening their doors to fans again. The Talladega Superspeedway joined some other venues to allow fans to attend the Cup Series playoff race in October. There is finally news on the ‘big one’ as well. The Phoenix Raceway is set to host fans for the ‘championship weekend’ in November.

Phoenix announced that they will have fans in a ‘limited capacity’ for each of the three championship races. The 42,000-capacity stadium will allow about 20% capacity, that comes up to 8,400 fans. The track will host the Truck Series championship race on Friday, November 6. The Xfinity Series race follows on Saturday, with the Cup Series finale on Sunday, November 8.

The track also clarified that priority will be given to holders of ‘season tickets’. There are ticket holders who miss out. The Phoenix Raceway will issue a credit to their accounts against the championship weekend in 2021.

While we wish we could have a full house with the greatest fans in motorsports, the health and safety of everyone is our top priority. And we are excited that we can still share this NASCAR Championship Weekend experience with many in a safe environment,” said Julie Giese, President of Phoenix Raceway.

Fans with access to the ‘Infield Experience’ cannot avail it now and will be refunded. Infield access is open only for NASCAR officials, essential members on team rosters, and broadcast officials.

However, the track will allow camping. No more than six guests per spot are allowed on campsites. They will also screen campers upon arrival.

The Cup Series playoffs begin at the Darlington Raceway this weekend. The track will allow 8,000 fans to attend the race. The Bristol Motor Speedway will allow as many as 30,000 fans to attend the Cup Series race. A smaller number is allowed for the Xfinity race at Bristol. The Talladega Superspeedway will also allow fans for just the Cup Series race days. So will the Texas Motor Speedway.

Last weekend’s race at the Daytona International Speedway saw almost 20,000 fans in attendance. The finale is set for Friday, November 6.
