“Check out for what?” Asked one fan, genuinely flabbergasted and confused when Cup Series veteran and champion Brad Keselowski initiated a conversation on ‘X’ about hotel rooms. Have you ever stayed at a hotel? What do you do when you have to leave? Checkout, right? While the answer might be a definite ‘Yes!’ for most of us, Brad Keselowski doesn’t seem one to follow the crowd.

In a recent interaction on Twitter, the RFK Racing owner revealed a rather uncommon practice that he has always followed. Keselowski recently reacted to a tweet that addressed the popular “myth” of hotel checkouts, sparking a fan interaction like no other, essentially causing a rift in the online community. Fans soon bombarded the veteran’s tweet with their thoughts about the same, initiating a new debate with some fans standing by the customary kind gesture while others took sarcasm to a whole new level.

While some practices aren’t customary, people still follow them out of habit. When we leave a hotel, the first thing we do is let the front desk know we’re leaving. That’s what seems like the most logical thing to do, right? Well, Brad Keselowski has some news for you! |

Responding to a tweet that read, “Checking out of hotels is a myth You literally don’t have to do it Just leave, nothing different happens”, Keselowski chimed in with his own take even revealing how his parents thought he was crazy for the said practice that even he followed. Leaving the NASCAR fandom somewhat scratching their heads, he replied back, “My parents thought I was crazy. Not once have I ever stopped to check out of a hotel.”

The reply soon caught fans’ eyes, who jumped into the conversation. The veteran’s tweet quite literally divided the online community, as some shared their experiences doing the same while others cited their reasoning for the gesture.

Fans love him because of his driving abilities and, more than that, they simply adore his easy-going attitude and the sense of coolness that he exudes on the track. If it’s checkout time and I’m not there anymore, they’ll figure it out pretty quick,” noted one user before another netizen keyed in with her misconception,I learned something new today because I always thought you had to check out at the front desk or you’ll be charged.”

On the other hand, the tweet also got some users urging others and mentioning their thought processes when they checkout of their hotel rooms. “It used to be a thing tho, had to turn back in them keys & pay ya bill on the way out……real keys not a key card. Ha,” said one fan who went back in time before keycards were a thing. Whereas another fan commented, “I always stop by the front desk – just to turn in the key cards as a courtesy and get a hard copy of the receipt for the bean counters.”
