Starting his full-time NASCAR career in 2019, Justin Haley joined the Kaulig Racing camp, competing in the Xfinity Series. After sticking around at the Kaulig Racing camp for five seasons, Hamley recently announced that he will be moving over to Rick Ware Racing in 2024 after signing a multi-year deal. Kaulig Racing spotter Brett Griffin, who spotted Justin Haley last season, was amazed by the sudden development.

Speaking on the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Griffin revealed his initial reaction upon hearing about Haley’s move to Rick Ware Racing. Brett Griffin said, “Well I will have to say it takes a lot to surprise me around here, and when I opened up social media that morning, and I glanced through it, and the next thing you know I start getting screenshots from folks like my good friend Freddy Kraft.”

Amazed by Justin Haley’s future plans, the Kaulig Racing spotter added,My first instinct was ‘What the f**k!’ Like I legitimately said to myself ‘What the f**k!’ Like this can’t be real, right? So then I sat there for a minute and obviously, Justin is a friend of mine. Justin is somebody I really enjoyed talking to, he’s somebody I got to know as a result of spotting for him full-time last year in the Cup Series. So I just sat there for a minute and…I’m just trying to make sense of all of it.”

Fielding the #15 and #51 Mustangs full-time in NASCAR’s Cup Series, Rick Ware Racing hired multiple drivers to drive for the 2023 season. While the team has the crew and equipment, the only thing missing from its arsenal are full-time drivers. Gearing up for the 2024 season, Rick Ware Racing is looking forward to a major revamp after signing a multi-year deal with Justin Haley.

Expressing how the initiative to draw the #31 Kaulig Racing driver into his camp was a masterstroke move by team owner Rick Ware, Brett Griffin said, “So, I get off my ‘Justin emotional ride’ that I’m on, and I go ‘Okay what is Rick Ware thinking?’ And my response is this is the smartest thing they’ve ever done in their company’s existence…they’ve gone out they hired Robbie Benton they hired Tommy Baldwin they’re hiring Justin Haley. Wow! Talk about a rebrand.”

He further added, “So Rick Ware Racing appears on the front of the page here to really be making a major attempt to make their program better, make their cars faster. How do you do that? Well, you go out and you hire a guy with Justin Haley’s experience. Obviously, a good road racer, a great drafter, a good little short-track racer, and I think it’s a big hire for them.
